I have chosen my dc's name and we need to now decide on middle name. i know it is hard to avoid as kids will be able to take the mick out of anything but which is more preferable as initials, MES or MAS
Thanks

Either look fine, to me.

TheTerribleBaroness · 20/05/2014 12:04

Both fine. Go with the name you prefer. DS is SWAM. :)

SpecialStuff · 20/05/2014 12:05

Either. DD is PAT.

TKKW · 20/05/2014 12:09

thanks! was just thinking if either has any connections/link which would possibly provide take the mick fodder.

DD is ANT. No-one has ever commented.

TKKW · 20/05/2014 18:42

Could MES or MAS be associated to anything rude/

SWAM is great!

Not really. That said someone can make a nickname or tease someone from just about anything if they're so inclined. Unless you were planning to call him Ben Dover I wouldn't worry about it. ;)

I am an AMS...Sir Alan has my numberplate...but I am not that upset about it.

I was at school with a Vicky Dyson who changed her name as she didn't like her initials.

jazzyjenbo · 21/05/2014 18:50

To be honest, I dont recall any taking the p* out of anyone due to their initials but at secondary school, we did have to sew our initials on aertex shirts for gym lessons which has made me think.

When i mentioned i wasn't sure about initials MES, the very first thing DMil said was, "are you worried about mess becoming a thing?".

I dont know what to do!!

Baby's name is Merryn, I quite love Olivia and Grace as middle names also.

Any more thoughts?

Nah, MES is fine. Kids don't really twig initials like that until they are a bit older, and by then there are much better ways to take the piss than calling someone a mess or messy!!

BabyLove00 · 30/05/2014 12:28

My large friend at school had the initials GAS. I always thought that was a bit unfortunate. No-one really noticed it though - they picked on her for being fat instead Sad

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 30/05/2014 12:29

My dd is MAC which I quite like.

Trying to decide which way round to put dd2s first and middle name came down to the initials as the way we are going with is OKC which is preferable to KOC.

Kveta · 30/05/2014 12:30

DS is OK :o (or OAK with his middle name).

meditrina · 30/05/2014 12:34

I can't see a problem with either of this sets on initials (unless French farmsteads become headline grabbingly awkward).

And MES might, if you're lucky, become Messi

ThingsThatShine · 31/05/2014 17:16

Mes and mas are fine!!

MostWicked · 31/05/2014 19:18

MES and MAS are fine.

I would avoid things like BUM, TIT, POO, VAG, DIM and various 4 letter combos

OorWullie · 31/05/2014 19:22

DS is JAM Grin

I don't think anyone pays alot of attention to initials- certainly not young children, and MES or MAS don't bring anything particular to my mind.

2tired2bewitty · 31/05/2014 19:31

I wonder how many LOLs and OMGs there are out there? Not something you'd have been able to predict 20 years ago

DefiniteMaybe · 31/05/2014 19:40

My dd is MAMS and if dc3 is a boy, his will be IBS. We've just picked names we like/have meaning to us we're not worried about initials.
