Anyone heard of Ozias?

Some searches say it's Hebrew, others Greek?

Any pronunciation ideas?

Is this a serious contender? If so, can I put my two pence in and say it's awful. Sorry OP.

LadyWithLapdog · 17/05/2014 18:07

I'd think oh-zee-ass. It's a 'no' from me.

It's a form of the Old Testament/Hebrew name Uzziah.

O-zy-as

ArfurFoulkesayke · 17/05/2014 18:25

Never heard of it, wouldn't know how to pronounce it, and if I did I'd be embarrassed to shout them in the playground.
What if they have a lisp?!
It's a no from me.

Is it a nn for Ozymandias? Ozymandias was an alternative name for Ramesses II, and more popularly known as the sonnet by Shelley. I'd quite like to call my kid Ozymandias - "Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!" Grin

I love it. It's a name repeated in my family tree, in my family tree its often recorded as ozias as well as osiah.

I wanted it but i got the same reaction you just did up there ^^

Tinkerisdead · 17/05/2014 18:33

And it comes from uzziah king of judah, so i'd say thats more scope that you pronounce it osiah
