Are there any Japanese speakers that could help me with a name meaning?

We really liked Enzo for a boy, but whilst we were checking it out, found the word Enso, in Japanese, which we really liked, given the meaning we were offered- the state the mind has to be in to create (is this right?) We wondered if the meaning was correct, whether it actually works as a name anyway, and whether it's pronounced the same as Enzo. Thanks.

I would need to see the kanji to check whether what you were told is correct or not, but Enzo sounds much more like and Italian than a Japanese name. The 'z' does not exist in Japanese, so Enso would be pronounce exactly as it is read, whereas Enzo is more entzo afaik. Does this help at all? Pm me if you want me to check whether the meaning you were given is right. If it is an older Buddhist term or if it comes from older tales, however, it might be difficult to find out without the kanji.

thanks so much. Yes, Enzo is Italian.

Here is a link for the Japanese word. The meaning seems to be a complex one, having looked at this link.

Enso and Enxo are pronounced completely differently.

The Japanese pronunication has the emphasis on the 'o' - it can be written with the line over the 'o' or 'ensou' - which is probably not how you'd want to pronounce it?

ah, ok, well then no, as the previous message says it would be ensoo. Enso has entirely different meanings.

Mmm, I explained myself badly. The Italian 'Enzo' is not pronounced as ??? (e-n-zo) but as Entzo. The 'zo' in ??? (e-n-zo) is pronounced like 'zanzara' or 'zoccolo'. So the pronounciation would not be the same.
Plus I agree with the example of Soma/Endo/Endou/Endoh etc, but the OP asks whether 'Enso' means what it says in the link, which it does not. Of course the OP can use Enzo or Enso and connect it to or explain it as the meaning of the link, but in actuality it would not.

Many thanks for the considered replies. I can see this might not be very clear cut. I'll have a think on it.
