One week until my elcs and we think Asa might be the one. What do you think? Sib of Astrid. Also need middle name ideas?
I'm liking Asa Fox. Our surname begins with I.

Thanks!

For a boy or a girl? Ive heard it only as a boys name pronounced Ace-Ah. I like it for a boy or a girl tbh.

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 09/05/2014 12:41

Sorry, for a boy!

Love it. Love Fox. Love Astrid.

Can I be in your family please?

evamummy · 09/05/2014 13:52

It's a well known girls name in Scandinavia. The a ending makes it feminine imo.

Asa is an Old Testament name and is great, love it.

DitzyDonkey · 09/05/2014 15:39

Asa Fox is great! If this little bean is a boy it will more than likely be Asa! Asa and Astrid would be a great sibset! Don't pay attention to anyone saying its a girls name they don't know what they are talking about....it's been a biys name since Old Testament times Wink

TheElectricMayhem · 09/05/2014 15:41

Definitely a boy's name. Very cool. Use it!

squoosh · 09/05/2014 16:05

Asa Fox is a brilliant name.

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/05/2014 01:40

Like it.

Great name, underused too considering the popularity of many Old Testament names.

ItsNotATest · 10/05/2014 01:45

Asa Hartford, footballer. Defo a boy's name. I rather like it.

Mutteroo · 10/05/2014 01:52

Always liked the name Asa. Not sure if I would use it if I already had a child with a name beginning with A as you have? Asa Fox is a seriously cool name.

Salazar · 10/05/2014 03:02

I love it. The one I know is 56, so it feels very middle aged to me. I'm glad to see it coming back round.

friendface · 10/05/2014 08:53

Ã…sa is a Scandinavian girls name, however I think it's lovely for a boy or girl. It is possible that with Astrid being popular in Scandinavia people might look at asa as being feminine in this instance. I still love it for a boy, just maybe not with the sibling Astrid.

IkeaFurnitureAssemblyChampions · 10/05/2014 08:54

Oh wow, never knew it was an Old Testament boys' name. I only knew Ã…sa as a girls' name.

cece · 10/05/2014 08:55

How do you say it?

I would veer towards Ass-a or As-a but surely neither of those can be right?

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 10/05/2014 09:03

Love it, very cool. Was on my list but our surname is short so doesn't really go Sad

NigellasDealer · 10/05/2014 09:05

Acer

Efferlunt · 10/05/2014 09:10

Like Asa Briggs in Marxist historian? I always wanted my boys to be Asa and Fenner but DH said they sounded to left wing.

DitzyDonkey · 10/05/2014 10:50

It's pronounced Ace ah not Acer!

NigellasDealer · 10/05/2014 10:52

umm is that not kind of similar?

AWombWithoutARoof · 10/05/2014 11:25

Depends if you're from the West Country. Grin

DitzyDonkey · 10/05/2014 11:32

An "ah" and a "er" ending sound different to me....but I guess it depends on your accent! Smile

dimdommilpot · 10/05/2014 14:32

It was in my top 3 if Dd2 had been a boy. I love it.

cece · 10/05/2014 14:34

Ummm not to my taste but if you like it then go for it but be prepared to correct pronunciation!
