Right, I'm back.
After presenting OH with my list of 44 weird and wonderful names, he's given the nod to 3.
My favourite 'Ivy' made the cut. But his other 2 surprised me.

Please share your preference on the following 3;

Ivy Angeline
Adele Angeline
Minnie Angeline

Ps we're in in oz, and Ivy is gaining popularity which is the downfall (for me). Whereas the other 2 are still quite rare here (although I know a few adult Adele's).

Cheers ladies! :)

I think Adele is lovely except it might get shortened to Addy so Ivy is probably my #1 from your shortlist.

I think of 'mini' more than vagina when I hear the name Minnie.

florascotia · 04/05/2014 12:11

If popularity worries you, this might be worth reading.
www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2127470/Top-baby-names-2012-Adele-Ivy-The-Hunger-Games-Rue-popular-girls.html

However, that article is based on a prediction, not a population-wide survey.
Here are the UK national statistics for 2012. Adele has not yet reached the UK top 100, but Ivy was no 88 in the UK and rising very fast - up 80 places in the table since the previous year:

But as many others have said, if you like the name, then use it. Your baby, your - and your DH/DP's - choice!

I have a beautiful baby Ivy and we all absolutely love her name. Despite teaching for a number of years I have never come across another one and in fact since having dd the only other Ivy we met was a 90 year old in our doctor's surgery. She was delighted to meet her very first namesake!

StretchyCat · 04/05/2014 20:04

Love Ivy.

Not sure about Minnie. We liked it for if our ds had been a girl but he's on the 98th centile and a bit of a hulk so glad we didn't end up with a girl called Minnie.

Graciejoylove8 · 05/05/2014 05:06

Isn't it ironic that I try and avoid the most 'popular' names, yet I seek validation and the most 'popular' response on a forum?? Haha

I think Ivy is in the top 20 here in oz. But I'm starting to not worry so much. My partner and I both had great aunties named Ivy, so I like the history.

I'm from Scotland originally, so like to keep up with the trends at home. Funny, I don't remember anyone referring to their bits as Minnie, but I believe it & I've taken it on board, told OH and we had a giggle.
I have a Gracie already, who is tall, rambunctious and fiery, nothing like her graceful or gracious name lol, But beautiful nonetheless.

Who knows, with 10 weeks to go I will prob change my mind another dozen times.
OH's nana is Iris and my nana is Betty (Elizabeth)

Oh and fideline, Adelaide is lovely. And totally acceptable in oz. But Adelaide Angeline is a bit much for me.

squoosh · 05/05/2014 11:45

I love both Iris and Betty!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/05/2014 11:46

LOVE Adele - but wouldn't use Angeline as mn with it.

maggiethemagpie · 05/05/2014 11:48

I'm another one who knows Minnie as a name for your, er, fadge.
Bit like calling someone fanny.

maggiethemagpie · 05/05/2014 11:49

Adele was one of the names I liked when I was younger, would want to shorten it to Della though!

JimmyCorkhill · 05/05/2014 11:50

Ivy definitely.

My DD1's name ended up being very popular but we don't know any one in our circle of friends/clubs called it. Plus it's a beautiful name and it's popularity doesn't distract from that.

I know a Minnie and she is adorable.

Do you like Adie or Ada?

JimmyCorkhill · 05/05/2014 11:51

...its popularity...(not it's [shame].

Graciejoylove8 · 05/05/2014 12:27

Iris and Betty are quite useable! Will keep you posted. :)

I like Ada.
But Not addie/adie/addy, again, they're not offensive, I just know 3 of them.
I also like Della as a nn.

How about Minty, short for Araminta?

atypicalwotsit · 05/05/2014 16:02

Interesting article Flora!

Graciejoylove8 · 05/05/2014 21:49

I've woken wondering if Iris is preferable to Ivy.
My poor OH.

Yes, thanks for the articles! Always interesting :)

Benchmark · 06/05/2014 11:59

Prefer Ivy to Iris. Iris makes me think of an eye rather than the flower and is a bit harsher. Ivy is soft and pretty.

TheLeftovermonster · 08/05/2014 10:58

Ivy or Adele.

Minnie is a bit of a nickname-y non-name for me.

squoosh · 08/05/2014 11:14

I'm the opposite to Benchmark, I think Ivy is quite harsh and scullery maid-ish, whereas Iris is soft and elegant.

squoosh · 08/05/2014 11:15

Then there's poison ivy..........

RabbitPies · 08/05/2014 12:54

Adele is beautiful. I'd go with that.

Ivy is a rather ugly name IMHO.

Minnie is even worse.

CrispyFern · 08/05/2014 13:00

Adele is my favourite but if you like Ivy go with Ivy!

telsa · 08/05/2014 20:49

Adele is so lovely and I have not heard it for decades. Iris is meh and very popular. Ivy is cute and pretty.

BlackberryandNettle · 11/05/2014 22:41

Really like Ivy and Adele, Ivy is sweet and Adele cool, maybe slightly more classic

As some have said lots of people use Mickey and Minnie as nicknames for their private parts!
