I think I want to change my baby's name...

Her name is Greta Ivy Clementine
I want to change it to Flora Greta Clementine

She's 4 months old.
Flora was the name we had originally settled on but I changed my mind once she was born.

DD1 has a name I've never truly loved and I think I've made the same mistake again.

I'm not sure what to do Sad

Update:

After a short argument with the stupid woman at the local registry office (where she tried to convince me it was,at first, impossible, and then, expensive and difficult to change a baby's name) a form is on its way to amend her birth certificate.

We have already told family and friends (some of whom think we are insane ) and she is now known as Flora.

I am so,so much happier with her name and can't believe how much better it feels.

OP this thread inspired me to do the same. Bizarre but also had a woman at office tell me I couldn't do it! Hope she hasn't sent others away...

Thanks!

I'm glad this thread has helped someone else too!

(You aren't in a county beginning with a H in a town beginning with an A,are you? )

The woman first told my DP it was impossible, then when he pressed her, said it could be done, but only if we went to the high court and paid £500!!!
I called back and recited the law to the cowbag, she STILL tried to argue with me that they couldn't "just change it because you changed your mind!" I said that was precisely what she could, and would be doing!
At this point she just gave in and asked me if I wanted her to send the form.
uh,YES.

It made me really mad that others have probably given up thinking it couldn't be done Sad it's just a form FFS,what the heck was her problem?

No! East of england here. The woman said I couldn't change on a whim I said please read the back of the short cert. She then apologised but I told her that really she should know this as it was her job! Its not like I'm trying to refund a t shirt! Would you know if dd would have to answer yes to have you been known by any other name? Not too worried about that as lots of women need to do that with maiden name, just curious.

I changed my daughters name on birth certificate

Thanks to her dad her name was very long

1 first name
3 middle names
2 surnames

I changed it on birth certificate at 11 months to

1 first name
1 middle name
2 surnames

I went to my local registry office to get the form, but the guy there gave me the wrong form and wrong info, I then went to the registry office where my daughter was registered who also gave me another wrong form. I ended up having to call the General register office who emailed me the correct form which I printed and filled in and luckily when I went back to register office where dd was registered this time there was a receptionist that actually knew what she was doing unlike the last 2 that I had encountered

If you have problems at register offices just contact the General register office who will send forms and will give correct info
