Mabelle Smile

My DD's name is on that list!

What a borrring list.

MissUumellmahaye · 18/04/2014 08:28

You need to add 'Fugly' as the second word of your OP. Anna excepted. Grin

IWantTheOneICantHave · 18/04/2014 22:17

Judith! (My name...but I am 44...)

IWantTheOneICantHave · 18/04/2014 22:18

(And EVERYONE just calls me Jude anyway. Except my mother...)

FatFrumpyFilly · 19/04/2014 01:25

Add Tracy to the list and it encompasses every female aged between 55-40 that I've ever met. Juliet & Anna are the only names I would consider naming my child nowadays.

FatFrumpyFilly · 19/04/2014 01:25

Should add they're the only names from the OPs list I would consider!

mathanxiety · 19/04/2014 05:31

Mary
Karen
Kim (not Kimberley)
Katherine or Kathryn (I hate the C spelling for some reason I can't put my finger on)
Paula
Anna
Juliet
Rosalind
Jane
Rita
Sylvia

-- are all names I kinda like Easter Smile

Flux700 · 19/04/2014 22:30

I like Jacqueline .

SimoneThompson · 22/04/2014 15:48

I don't mean any offence or anything, but my grandmother holds a book club every thursday and about seventy per cent of them have names on your list.
You should concider your child's feelings when naming them-how are they going to like being the only Pam or Audrey in a world of Chardonnays and Emeralds when they're teenagers?
There are plent of proper names that aren't totally out-dated. How about Sara or Matilda?Or maybe Beatrix? You could shorten that to Trixie without it sounding tacky.

McFox · 22/04/2014 16:00

I'm a Pamela, in my 30s, and I love my name thank you very much!

Stokey · 22/04/2014 16:09

Amongst dds' friends (all under 5) from your list I know an Audrey, Catherine, Anna, Felicity, Sylvia and Andrea.

FWIW would prefer Julia and Diana to Julie and Diane.

AmysTiara · 23/04/2014 21:31

I only like Melissa and Juliet. There are some shockers in that list OP so I won't be taking your advice sorry, far far too dated examples.

maggiethemagpie · 25/04/2014 07:58

Dated, but will probably come back in fashion when my daughter has a baby in around 2050. Juliet, Dawn, Felicity and possibly Kimberley might be ok now. Glenda, Linda, Cheryl, Janet and Rita sound terribly old fashioned.

mathanxiety · 25/04/2014 16:37

I love Rita. Another olde name I love is Kay, and I don't know why as I used to think it was horrible when I was younger. Also Kim (but not Kimberley).

mrsnec · 25/04/2014 16:49

2 of those on my shortlist. The others are quite nice too. Dated doesn't worry me in the slightest.

ShadowFall · 25/04/2014 19:17

I know a few small Annas, Felicitys and Jennifers.

I believe (but can't check on phone) that Anna is currently one of the top 100 girls names.

I reckon you need to go furthur back if you really want to be standing out.

Maybe as far back as Etheldreda or Mildburga (real anglo-saxon names)?
