Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RosebudTheCat · 05/04/2014 00:16

Did you watch Salting the Battlefield the other night?

I did, and thought hmmm, Allegra, that's a nice name. Hadn't really heard of it before. It's sophisticated.

Northernlurker · 05/04/2014 00:24

It's a lovely name. You could call a little girl Ally and then it's a fab name for an adult. Byron's daughter was called Allegra. Sadly she died young though Sad
The meaning of it is fab too. I wouldn't hesitate.

Elllimam · 05/04/2014 00:43

I like it, it's unusual but pretty.

joanofarchitrave · 05/04/2014 00:50

Nice. Makes me think of 'Dear Enemy', the sequel to 'Daddy-Long-Legs'. The Allegra in that is glorious and irresistible.

Blueberrybaby · 05/04/2014 01:05

I really like it. It was on my list but DH who hails from Canada said it was the name of allergy medication and so therefore no, a bit like calling a child Piriton was what he said. However if you have no North American connections then I shouldn't think it would matter to you. Vanessa Feltz has a daughter called Allegra and a Saskia too. Both really nice. I'm not sure how I have managed to store that useless nugget of information!

MummyAbroad · 05/04/2014 01:31

noooooooo! Its the name of a hayfever tablet!

Gorgeous name

Oriunda · 05/04/2014 08:20

Lovely name and meaning. Never heard of any tablets with that name.

Is my DDs name, I love it. It means happy.

HolidayCriminal · 05/04/2014 19:29

I like it, very familiar to me. I was explaining to DS the other night that Happy really can be a valid name. I would spell it with one L.

Aldwick · 05/04/2014 19:30

I know a 4 year old Allegra - she is a very serious bookish little thing and somehow it really suits her

Sorelip · 05/04/2014 19:32

I like it a lot.

Onesleeptillwembley · 05/04/2014 19:38

Could have a brother called Austin (shows age). Grin
Actually I really do like it.

I love it! Also never heard of the tablets, I think you'd be fine.

overthemill · 05/04/2014 19:42

Yep! Austin Allegra was first thing that sprang to mind onesleep. 1970s I'm guessing

I like it but I like European names generally

PandaWatch · 05/04/2014 21:15

I love it. On my list for future possible dd! :)

I worried how it would come over in the US because of the allergy medication but the beautiful rich girl in the Will Smith film Hitch is called Allegra so I guess it's not unheard of!

MagratGarlik · 05/04/2014 21:19

Immediately made me think Austin Allegro. Another '70s child....

WolfMoon · 06/04/2014 16:32

I love Allegra. I always wanted to call my daughter that, I now have two DDs but DH wasn't keen!

Beautiful name!

magentasurprise · 06/04/2014 18:42

I think it's lovely!

Wishfulmakeupping · 06/04/2014 18:45

I like it but oh says it reminds him of the crappy car? I don't know either

Devora · 06/04/2014 18:50

Really nice

ImperialBlether · 06/04/2014 18:54

HolidayCriminal, Why on earth would you call a child by a beautiful classical name but spell it wrongly?
