Feisty or hippy middle name for Scarlett?

LlamaLover · 02/04/2014 17:07

I'd like to go a bit more 'out there' with DDs middle name. Something feisty or hippyish, but not weak or flowery please.

Her first name will be Scarlett. I like Tiger - but open to other ideas if anyone has any.

DS's middle name is Danger, if that helps at all!

I have to say I like Scarlett Tiger, anyhows....?

In fact, I really like it.

As you know, op, if you go for an ' out there' name there will be murmerings of disapproval whatever you choose.

MaoamMuncher · 02/04/2014 17:50

Hero ??

Jellymum1 · 02/04/2014 17:55

I like scarlett tiger too actually...but it is a type of moth which is ok if your into nature I suppose. but I would think of the moth

RonaldMcDonald · 02/04/2014 18:01

lolling

try poppy, everyone will know what you meant

LlamaLover · 02/04/2014 18:49

Ooh, some lovely ideas there, thanks. None grabbing me as much as Tiger though so far. Closest is Savannah I think.

I don't care about the disapproval. Its only a middle name!

Happy to hear some more ideas, you guys are def in the right field!

Scarlett Storm

LlamaLover · 02/04/2014 18:55

Ps - didn't know about the moth, so thanks for that. Don't mind it,but good to know anyway!

Love Aurora BTW - but would sound strange in local Yorkshire accent I fear!

I love Tiger, but then I'm biased Wink I also think Danger is rather fab!

LlamaLover · 02/04/2014 18:56

Bloody love storm - would consider for first name if OH agreed. Oooh... Could be a contender!

Scarlett Rae

honeybeeridiculous · 02/04/2014 19:00

Woohoo! I'm honoured that you like my choice Grin
Funnily enough we know a savannah storm, lovely girl.

Thouneedsbedamned · 02/04/2014 19:01

Pimpernel?

florascotia · 02/04/2014 19:02

Just so as we understand and can make more focused suggestions, why did you choose 'Danger' as a name?

Not a criticism, simply a failure to comprehend; surely danger is the first thing that anyone wishes to avoid for their children?

You may genuinely have other reasons. I really am not being critical. I am baffled; I do wish to know.

In the same way, children are NOT Tigers, which are magnificent and very worthy of protection, but also predatory, carnivorous, wild animals. They do to humans and other prey what our pet cats do to mice and birds.

Spent my youth surrounded by hippydom. Then it was all about peace and love rather than danger and predation.

What about

Rowan
Hazel
Kezia
Linden

LlamaLover · 02/04/2014 19:06

A quick google of Scarlett Storm brings up a burlesque dancer. Hmm. A moth is probably better!

Savananah Storm is a fab name - but I know a Savannah already and OH wouldn't agree to it as a first name as too hippyish. He's pretty much given me free reign on middle name though. As long as the kids know it was all Mum's idea when they are older. Wink

Flora - fair questions.

I guess I want to convey strength and feistiness as much as peace and love.

My DS is definitely a danger to others rather than in danger himself - he's a whirlwind! Plus, yes, its a comedy nod to Austin Powers.

I'd like my DD to be associated with beauty and strength, and that's what I think of with tigers.

But I don't really attach that much significance to names - I like to think that they can do/be what they want regardless of their names. But I'd like big names for them to grow into rather than what I consider weak, bland names that they need to outshine so to speak.

honeybeeridiculous · 02/04/2014 19:15

I'm sure nobody will google Scarlett storm if you name her that, it's a shame to disregard it just because of one woman on google, I think it's a lovely name, also like danger. My DC'S have very traditional, 'normal' names but if I had my time again I would probably go a bit wildGrin

Dildals · 02/04/2014 19:19

Minerva

florascotia · 02/04/2014 19:28

OP many thanks for replying so soon. Now I understand. I was really worried, the moment that I posted, that I might have been rude.

For 'strong', what about names such as Boudicca (which means victory) or Nike (which means the same) or Athene and Minerva who were also warrior goddesses. There must be many other powerful warrior/heroine figures in many other cultures, too: for example, Parvati was a beautiful Hindu goddess who rode a tiger. And Bellatrix means woman warrior; it also contains the word bella which means beautiful - and it is the name of an important star.

There are so many names that mean beautiful, and that's a lovely thing to name a baby for. A list is here:www.behindthename.com/names/meaning/beautiful,comely,handsome

LlamaLover · 02/04/2014 19:31

@Flora@ - don't worry - no offence taken, I have a pretty thick skin!

Like your suggestions, but none grab me. Mostly as there is a link that needs to be made to get to the meaning, if you see what I mean. I'm probably a bit simple! Grin

Think it might be Scarlett Storm vs Scarlett Tiger at the mo....

Llama lover- Scarlett Ember was by far the best!

I think Danger was cool but couldn't do it myself- it's the kind of name you'd love as your surname- I have a friend call x Dangerfield- which I wished was my surname :P

florascotia · 02/04/2014 19:57

OP All the very best, whatever you decide!

aoife24 · 02/04/2014 20:05
