Jack or Rory?

Hello, I would be grateful of your opinions- due ds 2 in 4 weeks and can't decide between the two names. I love the name jack but it's been so popular for so long which puts me off a bit ( although I know no jacks!). I want a strong boys name which won't hold them back in the future. Oh ds1 is Charlie. Thanks in advance!

I personally think Jack works better with Charlie and I love the name too!

Jack - much prefer it to Rory. And if you love it, go for it :-)

I'm not keen on Rory. Cos when my boy was little he had a book with Rory the lion. I know, a play on the name but it put me off.

My DS1 (14) is Jack, so I used it at the height of its popularity, and people were saying, "he'll be one of many at school."

In all his years of school, he has only come across TWO other Jacks at school, one of them was older and left, meaning there was only him and one other Jack. And this was an all-boys school with about 400 pupils. (There were far more boys called Oliver and Harry at my son's old school).

Yes the name is popular, but at the end of the day, I'm not bothered about how many other boys are named Jack, the only Jack that matters is mine and I wouldn't have him with any other name.

I really like Rory, but it's a bit rhymey with Charlie. Jack is a much better fit.

I don't like the name Jack, find it very boring, even though it 'goes' better I'd still pick Rory.

I think Rory and Charlie sound lovely together actually! I know lots of Jacks, but only one Rory and I think it is a great name which will not hold him back in life at all.

I prefer Rory.

Out of the two I much prefer Rory, but Jack goes much better with Charlie. Charlie and Rory sounds too cutesy/sing-songy.

Rory bothers me. What if the child has trouble with his "r"s?

I really like Rory, it was going to be dd name if she was a boy. Jack is nice but it's so overused, it's just boring and 'meh' IMO.

Jack sounds better with Charlie. Also biased as i have a Jack, who likes his name as it's nice and short!

Would deffo go with Rory, I work in a small school and there are so many jacks! It's a very common name (common as in popular!)

Rory makes me think of the irritating bugger who wouldn't stay dead in the last Dr Who series. I'd rather do for Captain Jack

Agree with others that Charlie and Rory sound a bit matchy.

I know two baby Jacks, like Jack and Charlie as a sibset.

I really like Rory, but like nooka, my DH said it made him think of the rubbish lad of Dr Who.

Jack and Charlie sound good together. I have a 10 week old Jack and he is the only one I know!

Def Jack, one of my favourite names, suits all ages.

Rory!!! It's much less common (and it's my middle son's name ;) ) and it's a proper, good strong name that suits a child and a man X
