A name for spring

Hello all,

DH and I expecting first baby on April 20th (Easter sunday.) I'd love a name that somehow relates to spring. I have suffered from seasonal depression for as long as I can remember so have always loved spring. My mum, brother and I are April babies, dad and sister are May and DH is June..so spring is all round a happy time for me!

Neither of us care for April or May.
We know of the obvious flower names like Daisy, Poppy, Lily, Rose, Iris..not too keen on these either. Perhaps Rose/Rosie but looking for other options too.

If not related directly to spring, just something sunny and cheerful sounding! But not cheesy lol DH has suggested

Aurora
Dahlia
Violet/Viola
Dawn

I also saw Denver in a book which means "green valley" but probably too connected to the place?

Any input would be really appreciated! Thanks all :)

oh gosh LatherinaMinola I am so slow...I didn't think about the Shakespeare link with Viola at all!! Must admit Twelfth Night is a play I am all that familiar with...ahh of course wow that's even more perfect. Was Viola a nice character??

Brooke, Florence, iris, posy, rayne,

ChickenMe · 27/03/2014 22:27

Hazel is adorable because of Watership Down. You might find some interesting nature related names in that book. Not just the rabbits' names (which are really sweet but generally way too outlandish - Hyzenthlay, Nildrohain were does)but there are lots of references to plants and you might get ideas.

Viola is a brilliant character - in fact my favourite Smile Nothing to object to in her at all - although she is an orphan in the play if that bothers you. Happy ending though.

Justinepants · 27/03/2014 22:28

Flora - the Roman goddess of flowers and spring

PippityPip · 27/03/2014 22:30

oops KatherinaMinola just realised the typo in my last post..sorry! fingers type before the brain has any control lol. Great will suggest this to DH :)

MyChemicalGerard all lovely but can't use Iris..grandmother's name and my cousin has already used it for her DD. Florence is very very popular now, Posy is a bit "twee" for my liking.

ChickenMe that's a good idea, will look into that :)

How about Maia, the ancient goddess of spring. Our friends have a Maia (pronounced my er ) she was born mid February.

wigglylines · 27/03/2014 22:33

Melissa - honey bee

soontobeslendergirl · 27/03/2014 22:36

Anastasia (nn Tasia) - It means resurrection - great for an Easter baby

or Bluebell?

Chloerose75 · 27/03/2014 22:43

I was going to suggest Chloé meaning green shoot but I see someone got there before me!

I think Zoe means life, also quite springy

oldbutnotpastit · 28/03/2014 09:20

promrose
eirlys means snowdrop
persephone

oldbutnotpastit · 28/03/2014 09:20

primrose not promrose

Gugglebum · 30/03/2014 05:12

Please use Bloom in the middle. Always wanted it as a mn for a dd, sounds absolutely horrid with my married surname.
Azalea?
Magnolia?
I also agree on Hazel, Zoe and Violet. Love the Shakespearean names suggested as well.

Pippacat85 · 30/03/2014 10:33

Eve/Eva? I think it means new life.
I personally love Flora as a few people have suggested.

FirstTimeMom12 · 30/03/2014 14:58

April

Rose

Mumzy · 30/03/2014 15:09

Jonquil - a type of narcissus
Persephone - the bringer of spring
Blossom

Mumzy · 30/03/2014 15:12

Persephone the goddess of spring

fussychica · 30/03/2014 16:01
