Too matchy-matchy?

Phoebe and Zoe?

Dd1 is Phoebe Helena. The only names DH and I agree on for DD2 are Alice and Zoe. I think Alice is nice but maybe a little bland, but worry that Zoe is too close in sound and origin to Phoebe.

We also liked Elizabeth and Eleanor but I dislike every possible nickname... The middle name might be Joyce.

Any opinions / suggestions?

no I like Phoebe and Zoe together - like an almost rhyme but not quite. also as they are both Greek names there is a bit of a theme which is nice.

ClareaBear · 27/03/2014 12:10

I like them together :) My cousins are Jessica and Rebecca and the other set of cousins are George and Joe... I don't see an issue here at all!

WellHelloThere · 27/03/2014 12:11

Love Pheobe and Helena! Not so keen on Alice as very plain name IMO.

SolveAProblemLikeMaria · 27/03/2014 12:47

I ADORE the name Helena!! I'm expecting my 2nd boy but Helena is my number one girls' name. Nice choice :)

I think Zoe and Phoebe together are fine. I don't mind Alice but how about Alicia instead? or another "Al" name like Alana, Alena?

I wouldn't worry about them sounding too similar though. Zoe and Phoebe are lovely together

fussychica · 27/03/2014 12:57

I love Alice, especially when teamed with May or Mae.

Cringechilli · 27/03/2014 13:01

Phoebe and Zoe are nice together. I wouldn't give it another thought!

Driveway · 27/03/2014 13:34

No I don't think they're too similar.

Phoebe & Zoe go very well together.

I also like Alice, but have a preference for Zoe with Phoebe.

LetTheRiverAnswer · 28/03/2014 00:22

Darcy Bussells children are called Zoe and Phoebe, soit has precedent!

looki · 28/03/2014 00:57

Both Greek names, I think they are very nice together ie nice but not 'matching'.

Dovahkiin · 28/03/2014 10:13

Thanks ladies - Zoe it is! I now need to work round the fact that it doesn't go at alll with my recently deceased gran's name (Joyce) and find a name which is beautiful and which I can claim is linked on very tenuous grounds. Nana would understand :)

I don't think Zoe Joyce doesn't go tbh. After the first couple of days or weeks, you will never say them together. Both my sons have middle names after significant people and it never really crossed my mind to make sure they had a lovely flow - I just checked that the initials didn't make anything rude :)

If you did want a different option what about Jocelynn?

Merefin · 28/03/2014 10:28

Zoe Joyce is lovely. Unusual but grown up and classic. Do it!

thepoodoctor · 28/03/2014 10:32

Zoe Elizabeth Joyce?

JacqueslePeacock · 28/03/2014 10:33

Zoe Joy might be nice.

LetTheRiverAnswer · 28/03/2014 14:47

I quite like Zoe Joyce too!

MyNameIsKenAdams · 28/03/2014 14:49

I like it. Not too similar sounds - "Ee Ee" and "Oh E" - however I do prefer Alice to Zoe

Dovahkiin · 29/03/2014 10:35

Thanks ladies - you converted me but DH isn't convinced. DD1's middle name was the name of my other gran and he's reluctant to have such a clear trend (?) We have five months so I can work on it.

Zoe Joyce is lovely. Much better than Alice Joyce.

Martorana · 29/03/2014 10:38

Alicia Joyce is lovely- if you pronounce Alicia properly. Which most people don't.

DiamondsAndRust · 29/03/2014 14:12

Not too similar at all - think they complement each other, actually. I once came across a very cool sibset called Zoe, Phoebe and Xanthe.

florascotia · 30/03/2014 18:07

What about Joy as a middle name?

Joy fits in very nicely with the current trend for virtue names - Grace, Faith etc - as middle names. And of course the meaning is lovely and most appropriate for a new baby.

Dovahkiin · 09/09/2014 10:11

I'm just bumping this. One week to my due date and having a last minute wibble...

Not so much, no. I know one part of twins, she is Melanie and her twin is Melody. Now that is matchy, matchy.
