Mine ( definitely Alex) is tiny and elfin but opinionated, independent, artistic and funny. Knows what she wants and doesn't care that she's not 'one of the crowd'.

Mine is Lexie. I'm working on getting her to answer to Alex but she's 3 and it's impossible to bargain with her!

Ours is an occassional Lexie and I can see her choosing to be called it when she's older.

TheNightIsDark · 26/03/2014 21:20

We went with it because it's a gorgeous name on its own but has nicknames to suit any age. It seemed a mouthful for a tiny baby so Lexie was logical. Then I think Alex suits a pre-teen/teen more and Alexandra when older IYSWIM.

I met a 6yo Alex today. Petit, dark hair, well behaved, but fussy eater.
HTH!

See, I only know a girl in her early 20's called Alex. And she's not very nice, over confident, a bit nasty really...
I love alexia though.

Mine is a Sasha and she is the most gorgeous bundle of energy known to man and beast!

I've got a 19 year old niece called Alexandra who goes by Allie. She is beautiful, a talented singer and designer/artist, and absolutely hilarious. She has everything going for her, but does not take herself seriously at all. She is a teeny bit flighty at times, but somehow that's often funny too.

The name will not determine her personality. Not one teeny tiny bit. It may however determine - to a degree - how she may be initially perceived by others.

I know two Alexandras (both Alex).
Both are gregarious, fun people.
One is brunette, the other strawberry blonde.
Both lovely girls Smile

The one I know is kind, creative and full of life. She loves animals and wants to be a vet.

singaporeswing · 27/03/2014 04:17

Love the name. Bit feisty, bit spunky, generally lovely.

shoobidoo · 27/03/2014 12:07

Don't quite understand the question, op. Surely your dd can make of her name what she wants - anything really!

In other words, I've met all kinds of Alexandras.

I think of that Alexandra Burke but I do have a strong irrational hatred for her.
Her aside, I think an Alexandra would be very determined and loyal and not particularly girly.
