Tricky surname

Hi, I'm after some inspiration for a baby girl name. My surname is Balicki. Pronounced ba-liss-ki.

We would like a name that doesn't just roll into the surname and get lost.

Any suggestions?

Katerina
Leonora
Susanna
Jennifer
Carolina
Gabrielle

I think it needs a longer name, short ones do get a bit lost.

soontobeslendergirl · 25/03/2014 18:34

what type of name do you like?

soontobeslendergirl · 25/03/2014 18:36

I'd definitely avoid names with a similar ending e.g. Lucy, Molly etc Millie is particularly bad as it reminds me of Milli Vanilli :o

meditrina · 25/03/2014 18:50

Polysyllabic pan-European name would probably go best, so I think soontobeslender's suggestions are lovely.

And would add: Isabella, Victoria, Elisaveta, Penelope, Josephine, Helena, Madeleine, Natasha, Veronica

Any good?

Eleanor, hazel, Harriet,

My husband really likes Phoebe but I'm not sure if there is too much of a b sound going on...
Because we are both over 6ft we are probably going to have a tall girl. So we really want a feminine pretty name.
I like the suggestion of Susanna. But it's too close to my name Suzanne

If you like Erin, how about Ellen (or the Greek Eleni), Arianne, Ariadne, Serena, Merryn, Meredith?

morehelpneeded123 · 25/03/2014 19:28

Nastasia

Skooziroo · 25/03/2014 19:29

Merryn is lovely. Never heard of that before. Although we were hoping to use my great grandmother's middle name which is Mae. Would it go?

TeaAndALemonTart · 25/03/2014 19:32

Clara, Jasmine, Harriet, Verity.

meditrina · 25/03/2014 19:32

I think it'd be OK as the cadence is right. Try it out for a few days and see if you both like how it flows.

Pasithea · 25/03/2014 19:38

Mirren Mae.

Glossolalias · 25/03/2014 19:39

Merryn Mae Balicki
Sounds lovely

GreatJoanUmber · 25/03/2014 19:45

I think a non frilly name that ends in -a would complement the surname nicely.

Anna
Hannah
Clara
Julia
Jana
Maria
Kia
Rhea
Tamsyn

Skooziroo · 25/03/2014 20:18

Husband doesn't like Merryn :( he thinks it sounds really old. I really like it. I think it sounds timeless. I like that it's unusual

Although cornish names could be a winner. I googled Merryn and apparently it's Cornish. We got engaged in Cornwall and we go there every year for a holiday :)

I love the Cornish name of Elowen. There is also Morwen. Both would sound lovely with your last name, are elegant and feminine and could have meaning for you.

hunreeeal · 25/03/2014 20:52

Louisa
Natalie
Victoria
Jessica
Carina
Georgia
Stella

MyNameIsKenAdams · 25/03/2014 21:33

NCFTTB · 25/03/2014 21:53

soontobeslendergirl · 25/03/2014 22:18

Vanessa
Juliet
Celeste
Amaris
Lucia (loo chia)
Alicia (either pronouciation would be good - Alis-sia or Alee-sha)
