I love it and there aren't that many around here.

NadiaWadia · 18/03/2014 12:50

Lovely. Prefer it to the currently more popular Sophia, though that is nice too.

boobyooby · 18/03/2014 12:53

I think it is a lovely name Smile

irregularegular · 18/03/2014 12:55

Not cutsie. It's classic and elegant. But it is extremely popular. I've got one (age 11) and I had three in the back of my car yesterday.

I don't have a problem with popular names at all, if they are classic, but I know some people do.

MrsWobble · 18/03/2014 12:58

I was going to use it for my first but worried that there were too many around so chose a different name. before dd1 was 3 weeks old I had been introduced to two more babies with her name so I stuck with sophie for dd2. it's a really lovely name.

FrumiousBandersnatch · 18/03/2014 13:09

Really like it, and have always loved the old-fashioned spelling 'Sophy'.

DiamondsAndRust · 18/03/2014 13:57

Not too cutesy, but definitely too popular for my taste. As a primary teacher, I've had at least one (often more than one) in every class I've taught. Pretty name though.

ToffeeJungle · 18/03/2014 18:08

Not cutesy at all, it is classic and elegant - I love it!
I have only ever met 2 - who will be 18 months and 30 now.
Cutesy names to me are more things like Millie, Kitty, Posy and Lola.
Sophie is FAR better than any of those.

FranSanDisco · 18/03/2014 18:12

Classic, feminine name. I have always liked it.

Ilikepancakes · 18/03/2014 22:25

I don't think it's too cutesy. It's classic and pretty. I don't know any baby Sophies. I know a few in late 20's early 30's.

looki · 18/03/2014 22:56

I used love it but simply can't get past Sally Webster shouting 'Soooofeee'. She has ruined the name for me.

deste · 18/03/2014 23:05

My DD is a Sophie and I still love it. She is 27. I think she likes it too.

brandyandsummergloves · 18/03/2014 23:13

My DD is a Sophie too and she's 25. She's in no way cutesy and would be horrified to be described as such. It's a lovely name I think (well I suppose I would as i used it as a name for my eldest dd)

BikeRunSki · 18/03/2014 23:17

Lovely, classic name.
I only know one 2 yo Sophie, 1who is 7 and one in her 40s.

AberdeenAngusina · 18/03/2014 23:17

Another vote for classic and elegant, rather than cutesy.

HippoCritic · 19/03/2014 04:09

Lovely. I think it CAN sound cute, but also can sound strong, it depends who you match it to in your mind. Beautiful name, imo.

Rachie1986 · 19/03/2014 06:01

My 11week old is a Sophie.

Didn't realise it was currently so popular (pfb so not much contact with older children yet). However we struggled to agree on a name so would probably have used it even if we did realise it's popularity! Xx

JadziaSnax · 19/03/2014 06:03

Definitely classy & elegant though 14 month old DD is more of a hurricane

Wuxiapian · 19/03/2014 06:05

Very pretty name. Not too cutesy at all.

Boris13 · 19/03/2014 06:18

I know one Sophie!

SaucyJack · 19/03/2014 10:13

Nice name, but it's been done to death over the past 30 years.

squoosh · 19/03/2014 11:06

I know hundreds of young Sophies, at least it feels as though I do.

I don't think it's cutsie but I do think it's so, so boring.

LoveVintage · 19/03/2014 11:08

I love it, not cutsie at all. I also love Phoebe.

Blueberrybaby · 19/03/2014 13:58

It's nice. Sophia tends to be more popular today, whereas Sophie is a name that seems to have been popular for decades. I know Sophie's under 10, in their teens, 20s and 30s. It's a bit like Emma I think, a modern classic. I don't think it is cutesy. Cutesy to me are names that don't cross over so well into adulthood so things like Molly, Milly, Maisie.
