Definitely Alice. It's sweet and classic but not frilly

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/03/2014 01:58

April.

It's lovely

LePetitPont · 16/03/2014 08:18

Alice, Georgia or Sienna for the first name - then use Skye or April for the middle?

Georgia Skye is pretty to my ear!

peachysweet · 16/03/2014 08:48

Alice is best . Sienna very overdone here a few years ago. April second choice. Skye can be sweet. Georgia not my cup of tea.

Much prefer Alice to any of the others. It's pretty and classic, but I don't see it as boring as it has far too many interesting literary and historical associations (Alice in Wonderland) and inspiring namesakes for it to be considered bland. It's more timeless than dull.

Skye is nice and I like the joint nature/island associations, but it is potentially a bit 'hippy-dippy' in feel (which may or may not be a problem!)

April is cute but IMO best kept as a MN - seems too random for a non-April birth and too obvious as a FN for an April baby.

Georgia I would describe as dull. I've taught millions of them (OK, not literally millions, but it does sometimes feel that way!) It has less of a pedigree than Alice, and is likely to date more quickly. And for me it doesn't have a particularly pleasant sound (not a fan of George either).

Sienna is a real flash in the pan name. I had two Siennas in each of the last two primary classes I taught. Both sets of parents told me that they thought they were being original, and were disappointed to find that it was much more common than they'd thought.

Morgause · 17/03/2014 14:19

Skye and Sienna are very common in infant schools these days.

I like Alice and Georgia.
