Quirky middle names

I'm reasonably conservative when it comes to first names but am looking for something a bit more unsual or quirky for the middle name. At the moment I like:

Girls' middle names:

Blythe
Fleur

Boys' middle names:

Griffin
Digby

Any other ideas for me? Are there names you would use as a middle name but not as a first name?

Quite like Loveday...like the Olde English feel.

I like Lilith but it's too many Ls with Cecily isn't it?

Oh yes its french for regret isn't it - sorry! :)

I went to school with a boy who's middle name was Black which I thought was cool.

Inthebeginning · 13/03/2014 19:50

Our little one will an old family surname as one of his middle names. Links him to that side of the family and is very quirky.

minipie · 13/03/2014 19:59

beginning, we are also going to put in family surnames as 2nd middle name. One of those names (which we would use for a girl) is quite cool and the other (which we would use for a boy) is sadly a very uncool old man's name!

so maybe that reduces the "need" for a quirky 1st middle name... still fancy the idea though...

Hemmingway or Wilde for a boy
Talitha for a girl

SimplySara · 13/03/2014 22:56

How about:
Girls
(H)Ortensia
Odette
Sorrel
Bliss
Seren
Wren
Juniper

All are very nice offbeat names

Boys
Wren
Isaiah
Cassius
Hector

Blythe is lovely!

LePetitPont · 15/03/2014 08:56

I love love love Griffin! In that vain, how about Merlin? Also Ludo, Rafferty, Sage, Kit

For a girl, maybe Willow, Violet, Flora, Juno?

AnonymousBird · 15/03/2014 09:04

My friend's did the classic and gave their daughter the middle name "Aspen". Wink. Also know a girl with Wreford as middle name.

These names shouldn't hide as middle names, though, get them out there! Darwin is quite cool.

OhCaptainDarling · 15/03/2014 11:43

I was also going to suggest Merlin, what about Lancelot?

mumbaisapphirebluespruce · 15/03/2014 12:23

Are there any names of places, people, hobbies etc that represent things you like? We know a little boy who has Stirling as a middle name because his father is very keen on F1. This will out me, but our DD has Olympia as a mn, named after her great grandmother but also conceived during London 2012. We couldn't not use it!

MrsKermittSmith · 15/03/2014 16:00

Zilla
Euphemia
Kezia
Verin

minipie · 16/03/2014 14:07

ooh more names thank you!

Good ideas - I especially like Wren, Bliss, Sorrel, Ludo, Darwin, Wilde. I can see the famous surname ones being a problem though, they'd get asked "any relation" wouldn't they?

I thought of Penfold yesterday Grin I quite like it but suspect I'm not brave enough!

mumbai I will have a think about that....
