Princessy Names?

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved fairy tales and princess stories.

For me, I feel like Aurora, Lillian, Evelyn, Eleanor, Florence, Cecily, Clara and Isobel remind me most of princesses. They all seem to go well with my boys list (George, Dexter, Henry, Stanley, Edward, Charlie & Louis), and they all feel like little princesses to me. (No, I am not trying to be sexist by saying all little girls are princesses or anything like that).

What names make you think of princesses?

Sarah means princess.

Elizabeth, Eleanor, Anne, Catherine, Arwen, Grace, Mary.

UriGeller · 12/03/2014 20:00

The usual. Elizabeth, Anne, Caroline, Margaret.

I have trouble sounding my 'R's so even though I quite like it, I'd be avoiding Aurora as 'Owworwah' doesn't sound very regal Grin

ChasbutnotDave · 12/03/2014 20:12

Belle
Elizabeth
Victoria
Arabella

YummyMummybee · 12/03/2014 20:23

Matilda, lots of European princesses throughout the centuries were Princess/Queen Matilda's.
Like this thread, I'm a fan of regal names too!

Terramirabilis · 12/03/2014 20:26

Alice means princess or noble

alita7 · 12/03/2014 20:43

The names most commonly given to real princesses are actually remarkably sensible and don't make me think of princesses at all (Anne, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, Victoria, Catherine, Anne, Joanna etc)

Names that make me think of sparkling pink castles, handsome princes, velvet dresses and fire breathing dragons are:

Aurelia, Arabella, Annabella, Ariadne, Anastasia, Adrianna, Belle, Brunhilda, Bianca, Catriona, Carolina, Cordelia, Cassandra, Calliope, Clarissa, Christiana, Christabel, Carlotta, Delilah, Elisaveta, Emmeline, Eleanora, Eloisa, Evangeline, Francesca, Frederika, Felicity, Florence, Felicia, Fenella, Gabriella, Georgiana, Genevieve, Hermione, Henrietta, Isabella, Isadora, Juliana, Juliette, Josephina, Katerina, Liliana, Lucinda, Louisa, Lavinia, Miranda, Madeleine, Natalia, Octavia, Ophelia, Philippa, Priscilla, Persephone, Pandora, Rowena, Robina, Sapphire, Seraphina, Sylvia, Tatiana, Tabitha, Valentina.

Disney princess style I think of Celeste, Lucinda, Melissa and Serena.

LePetitPont · 15/03/2014 09:11

For historical accuracy (and some queens in there too, strong women!) rather than Disney fluff:

Antoinette
Catherine
Beatrice
Marguerite
Marie
Genevieve
Victoria
Elizabeth
Margaret
Stephanie
Caroline
Eugenie

LePetitPont · 15/03/2014 09:22

Ps Eleanor is a great name - Eleanor of Aquitaine was one of the most powerful women of the Middle Ages Smile

lechers · 15/03/2014 11:36

What about the royal houses of Europe....?

Amongst the princesses (and various titles) there are...

Beatrix, Alexia, Catherina, Ariane, Laurentien, Eloise, Leonore, Mabel, Luane, Zaria(The Netherlands)

Silvia, Victoria, Estelle, Leonore, Madeleine, (Sweden)

Sofia, Victoria, Irene (Spain)

Martha, Maud, Leah, Emma and Astrid (Norway)

Isabella, Josephine, Elisabeth, Athena, Marie and Benedicte. (Denmark)

But then many of these real princess names are not actually very "princessy" and are quite ordinary!

HoneyandRum · 15/03/2014 18:43

If you mean very feminine names with a certain romance I would say Raphaela.

For a classic name used by actual women who were/are Princesses I would say Catherine.

smokeandglitter · 15/03/2014 18:51

Tatiana and Anastasia. I love those names!

guineapig2014 · 15/03/2014 21:42
