Sonny/Sonnie for a girl

I'm kinda guessing the vote on this one but all the same....

Not considering Sunny

My ds is praying for a little boy (named Sonny) which isn't happening....I think it's a beautiful bright name and a girl of any age would appreciate this name

Opinions ( be gentle for the love of God!!)

Ps- for those that plan to say "but it's not a real name" stop right there!! Stop and step away from the keyboard

Sonny was my boys chosen name, had another girl though. In Scotland sonny is a pet name for a boy, like hen is for a girl, so unable to imagine it for a girl, sorry.

I'm with everlong.

Hate Sonny/Sonnie for both sexes.

Really like Sunny/Sunnie for a girl.

Why would you want to name a middle aged man Sonny?

Still less a middle aged woman?

Not keen for a boy. Definite no for a girl

Not for a girl.

Honey might be better (ducks and hides)

I know a woman called Sunny (short for Sunita I believe…)

I don't get why you wouldn't go for Sunny when it sounds exactly the same so would please your DS, but it's also a more girly name, which would please your dd!

Sometimes DCs end to learn that they don't get everything they want and unfortunately you can't give your DS a brother by giving your dd a boy's name!

I have a pal called Sonney. She's gorgeous and very cool...so I like it!

And that's how it's spelled by the way 'Sonney' - I suppose her parents thought it was more feminine that way.
I don't see it as a boy's name because of her.

Hate Sonny but like Daughterie.

Sonny for a girl is one of the worst suggestions I have ever seen in any 'Baby Names' thread.

Oh, and that is me being gentle.

When you describe the name as 'beautiful and bright' I think you are confusing the normal reaction to a sunny day, with the name. The sound of the name itself is not particularly beautiful. And IT ISN'T A REAL NAME! (sorry) And anyway, it's a not-real name for boys, not girls.

I bet you anything your DD will not 'appreciate' it at all. As a nickname for something else, it might be OK, as long as she gets a proper name. At the moment I can only think of Sunita. Which is quite nice, actually.

Sonny would be cute as a nickname for Alison.

Why are you not considering Sunny?

Sonnie/Sonny is like 'Guy' - impossible on a girl. Sorry.

Report
LittleBearPad · 11/03/2014 00:08

It might be feasible as a nickname but I think she needs a 'proper' name too. Sorry.

Sonia/Sonya/Sonja (all a bit ugly imo but anyway), Sonnie for short?

Susannah, Sunny for short?

Sonita?

Sonnet?
