If I like Astrid what other names can you suggest?

Well I don't like Astrid I ADORE it, but just for fun would like other girl suggestions (they don't necessarily have to have a scandi/Germanic feel, just a similar quirkiness)

To give you more if an idea of my taste, I have a ds called Eli and other boys names I love are, Arlo, Asa, Ezra, Cassius, Kit, Rex!

Thanks in advance!

ditsy well everyone tells me it is super cool and they love it. I have to assume they are not lying!

DitsyDonkey · 10/03/2014 20:39

grobagsforever it is super cool, even though there have been lots of fantastic suggestions i think Astrid has my heart. My only worry is people accidentally shortening it to Ass, as with my ds sometimes without thinking I call him E, and you would think Eli is too short to shorten! Grin

Though I thin Sis, Sissy or Sassy would be great nn for Astrid. My granny goes by Sis so that might be cute to use sometimes....though I'm not a huge fan of nicknames, maybe more of a pet name from time to time.

I need to stop rambling Blush

We have an Arabella so I'm a great lover of the double A girls' names. But Astrid is beautiful too.

Love the name Astrid and it is high on our list of possibles for dc3. Our ds is called Eli as his nn so probably share a similar naming gene. Dd is called Edith (Edie for short) so of course love that name. Here are some other contenders

Love Astrid. It went off our list because it is too common here (but I live in Sweden.) I have an Älfi Saga. Älfi Sounds a LOT like Elfi. I also loved Aobh, Aoife, but they were impossible for the Swedes to pronounce. Love Vilda from up thread. Lina or Lena are beautiful, too.

peachysweet · 11/03/2014 12:41

ditsy- I also considered Astrid for one of my DC (had a boy anyway). The main thing that put me off was the lack of obvious nn because I do tend to shorten names. The best one I thought of was 'Astri'.

Having said that, if it is your favourite out of all the suggestions, I think you should use it because you will regret it otherwise.

I love Astrid - our dd very nearly was one but she ended up an Ezri instead!

TessRA · 11/03/2014 21:10

Heidi? May I ask why Olive is suddenly becoming popular when Olivia is so much prettier? Maybe it's the connection to Olive from On the Buses for me.

MyNameIsKenAdams · 11/03/2014 21:15

Olive just is less fussy and twee than Olivia.

13loki · 12/03/2014 15:30

I love love love Ã…sa, but I'd struggle with it in England. I guess it would be written as Aasa. I'm assuming the UK, like Australia, will only accept conventional English letters.

ikeaismylocal · 12/03/2014 15:56

I think Olive is a nicer name than Olivia, I personally think that Olivia sounds like a female version of Oliver but Olive sounds like a name all by itself.

I also love olives!
