Darcy
Francesca
Genevieve
Lana
Lara
Jean
Scout
Seren
Sorrel
Stella
Xanthe

Are some a bit try hard? Want to avoid things like Amelia, Eva, Sophia, Olivia: all gorgeous names but know too many. Ideally a name that doesn't date or place her would be good. Thanks!

I've never met a Xanthe!

I like Scout and Jean

winterhat · 08/03/2014 17:15

I've never mentioned a Xanthe either. It's mentioned all the time on here though.

winterhat · 08/03/2014 17:15

I mean I've never met a Xanthe!

rockybalboa · 08/03/2014 17:21

Xanthe, Lara or Darcy for me.

Viviennemary · 08/03/2014 17:26

I'm not keen on many of them I'm afraid. Sorrel and Genevieve are the ones I prefer but they're just not my sort of names.

CyberMuddle · 08/03/2014 18:04

I like Carla, Stella and Xanthe. I've met one other Xanthe, aged about 1. Had never heard of it before then, and I like that it's one of those feminine without being frilly kind of names.

I love Sorrel.

Your list is similar to ours ... We're at 40 weeks and v likely to go with Carla! We also wanted familiar sounding but not too common.

My favourites from your list are Carla, Claudia, Stella, Seren, Lana and Francesca - all names we have considered!

In case it helps, we have Amber, Hazel, Rhona, Heidi, Cassidy (Cassie), Brianna, Marianne, Delta, Savannah and Bethany on our (long ) shortlist.

Good luck and congratulations!

From you list I love Stella, Genevieve and Francesca.

With regards to your Evie enquiry, my dds name is regularly shortened to Evie. Everyone on here always goes on about how popular it is but we are yet to encounter another Evie.. Also I working in child care for 20 years and only met two Evie's in that time.( I am in London. )

brachiosaurus · 09/03/2014 09:58

Thanks everyone, I think we are narrowing it down. Claudia and Genevieve the current front runners. DH reckons we would use Jeannie as a diminutive of Genevieve, which I really like.

Ihatepeas- I think it must be quite regional as I always hear Evies and Evas being called for in the park-but then maybe it's the same two mums calling them each time! Grin Anyway, it is a lovely name, so it probably shouldn't matter if it's popular.
