I like names that can be shortened to cute nn's?

Like... Harriet to Hattie
Matilda to Tilly ( ur rent front runner but willing to change my mind!)

Husband is Irish and would prefer an Irish (girls) name, but is willing to let me go with whatever I really like within reason.

Phoebe to bee was a consideration, but I think I've gone off it.

6 weeks to go.
Any ideas? Smile

Yes Bureen N Irish, Co Fermanagh :)
He wouldn't go for loads of those names.
I think really the only one I would use is Dotty? But then not keen on the name Dorothy.

Oh gosh, I think it's going to have to be Tilly! I can't think of any others that are cute /usable against other siblings.

I DID like Henrietta, actually. Hetty is very sweet.

I will pose that one to him later

Letitia to Letty or Tish?

I love names with nickname options too, I chose a grown up name for my DD which had a 'cute' nickname for when she was younger. She now uses her full name for work and with lecturers and has a nickname which is a less 'cute' version of the one she had as a child for friends. She really likes it.
It is a bit like if she was called Kathryn, was Kitty as a child and is now Kathy or Kath or Ryn.

Theodora - Thea, Dora, Teddy
Millicent - Millie, Milla, Mills
Amelia - Meelie, Mia, Amy, Milly
Sophia - Fia, Fifi
Matilda - Tilly, Mattie, Tildy, Tilda
Evangeline - Evie
Emmeline/Emmelina - Emmie
Katherine - Kitty
Lucinda - Cindie
Cordelia - Dilly, Cordie, Deelie
Octavia - Occy
Ottillie - Tilly, Otty
Tegan - Tiga, Tiger
Allegra - Leggy
Alexandra/Alexa - Lexie
Saskia - Saskie
Saffron - Saffy
Fenella - Nella

Instead of Dorothy you could have Dorothea which gives you options of Dotty, Dora, Thea etc.

HoneyandRum · 08/03/2014 07:16

I think Kitty is great and Catherine/Katherine has always been used a lot in Ireland (Kitty O'Shea anyone?)

AngryBeaver · 08/03/2014 08:08

Dh has. Just said no to all of those (bar Matilda) without even looking up from Breaking Bad! Confused
I do love kitty, but it's a no go.
And dotty but not keen on Dorothea/Dorothy .
