Looking for a name beginning with S

DH and I have 2 DS and we all have names beginning with S. We are now expecting DC3 and we are stumped for names.

Nothing too popular but not too alternative.

Please help. All suggestions considered. Add a middle name too if you like. Nothing beginning with J, D, B or F - these are taken.

Thanks for the idea of checking the British Aristocratic names, seemed like a good place to look for unusual names that are also surnames.

Scout is a bit American for me.

We can't have Stuart - DH. We can't have Simon - DBros middle name, spent my childhood taking the piss out of him for it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Honestly very helpful.

I did like Sawyer but DH immediately said Soya Sauce, which put me off it straight away.

Why is this soooo hard?!

Sawyer is nice - and soy sauce is SOY sauce, not soya sauce!

Face palm - you are quite right Blush

I love the name Silas but have been over ruled by DH.

He keeps saying let's call him Sherlock, if it's a boy. He was joking but now everyone seems to love it. Any thoughts??

Thanks for all the suggestions. It's helping a lot. More discussions needed with DH.

DH likes Stirling but I think with a Stuart and Stanley that might be too much St in one house!

Glad that no one else is saying yes to Sherlock. That's nipped that one in the bud.

Would anyone else drop the S thing and go for something else??

At this point, with the rest of you all starting with S, I think the third child would find it really odd that he or she has a different initial.

soontobeslendergirl · 06/03/2014 21:09

Struan?

LynetteScavo · 06/03/2014 21:22

I would drop the S thing and go for a name you like.

My sister is the only one of us not to have a certain initial (but she isn't the youngest),

And I have a friend, who is the youngest of 5, who doesn't have the same initial as all his brothers and sisters (his dad also had name beginning with the same letter). He once asked his mum why and was told "When you came out, you were different". Grin I suspect she just ran out of names she liked beginning with D.

I am wondering why you don't just look in the baby name dicitonary, and go throgh the S section, but for what it's worth I really like;

Soren

Sorcha.
Shona

Saul or Stefan for a boy.

mathanxiety · 06/03/2014 22:12

If it's a girl you could choose a name with a soft C sound, like Cecelia.

Or something like Cyprian or Cyrus for a boy.

My favourite S names are Seraphina and Seras.

IamMrsElf · 10/03/2014 08:59

I have looked in my baby name book, on all manner of baby name websites and I can not find a single boy name I like. Thank you for all of your suggestions, I have been reading through them all carefully.

I did think that someone might suggest something that I hadn't seen or put it with a middle name and all of a sudden it would click and I would say "Yes! That's it, that's the name" but so far I'm still struggling.

Maybe I can't settle on a boy's name because I'd quite like a girl, I've got a name I like now - Scarlett - and as I have 2 boys already it would be nice to have a girl. The 20 week scan isn't too far away and of course my main concern is the health and well being of baby, but I am really excited to see the gender. If it's a boy I can find the right name and if it's a girl I can stop thinking about names!
