Definitely clementine! Really pretty name

LeslieKnope · 27/02/2014 16:55

Clementine. It's gorgeous.

Avery is horrible. Masculine and American.

judyandthedreamofdonkeys · 27/02/2014 16:55

just to add clementine would be shortened to em or emmie...not clem

Clementine is very pretty. Avery I like but did you know it is often used for boys (a character in 'Nashville')? Does sound more feminine to me though. So I would go with Clementine.

curiousgeorgie · 27/02/2014 16:59

I love them both..

You could have Clementine Avery?

HSMMaCM · 27/02/2014 16:59

Clementine. Isn't Avery a type of printer label?

Sundaedelight · 27/02/2014 17:01

Clementine! Have known a few and it is gorgeous!

Pinkandwhite · 27/02/2014 17:03

Definitely Clementine out of the two names. The only Avery I know is a boy.

BabyMummy29 · 27/02/2014 17:04

Reminds me of oranges or aviaries

mathanxiety · 27/02/2014 17:29

I love them both. I would not use either of the nicknames you like though.

If you want to call her Ava then call her Ava and forget Avery.

And in school a Clementine will be Clemmie. If you want Em or Emmie then call her Emma, Emmeline or Emily.

Bunbaker · 27/02/2014 17:32

Not Avery.

I hope your surname is not label Grin

MyCatIsFat · 27/02/2014 17:36

Avery make scales and are/were a hire car company.

manicinsomniac · 27/02/2014 17:43

I love Avery.

Clementine is ok but it's too orangey for me.

Bunbaker · 27/02/2014 17:47

"were a hire car company."

Avis

mrsbug · 27/02/2014 17:49

Definitely Clementine

KatherinaMinola · 27/02/2014 17:50

Definitely Clementine!

KatherinaMinola · 27/02/2014 17:51

Although I think Em/Emmie is a bit of weird shortening - and kind of takes away from the lovely unusualness that is Clementine - makes it into Emma/Emily etc (nice names, but more common).

pilates · 27/02/2014 17:59

Clementine or Ava def not Avery.

SuperScrimper · 27/02/2014 19:12

Why would you call a Clementine 'Emmie' that's just really confusing? Go for a name like Emmeline if you want to use Emmie.

It's like calling a child Penelope and announcing she's to be known as Nancy.

RalphRecklessCardew · 27/02/2014 19:14

Avery. Definitely Avery. Clementine's nice but a bit too nice IYSWIM. Avery kicks ass.

mumbaisapphirebluespruce · 27/02/2014 19:18

I love Avery. It's true in the US it is a unisex name but becoming more popular for girls recently. I would use it for another DD if I have one. I too don't understand the need to shorten. Avery is so lovely you don't need to. If you like Ava then go for that. Clementine is ok. Agreed with others if you like Em, then Emma or a derivative seems the obvious option.

judyandthedreamofdonkeys · 27/02/2014 19:32

sorry i didnt say im not intentionally going to shorten either its just there always becomes a shortened nick name doesnt there like jennifer to jen etc...
avery would naterally shorten to ava but clementine to clem which im not keen on but ive heard of it shortened to em...not that i have much control over nick names really

OP posts:
judyandthedreamofdonkeys · 27/02/2014 19:33

that grammar is awful i meant sorry i didnt specify im not intentionally shortening

mumbaisapphirebluespruce · 27/02/2014 19:36

Ok that makes sense then. You are right you can't really control nns, so if I were you I'd go with Avery ( and because it's so great). The Avery's I know (am in Canada) are all just that. No nick names ok well apart from Aves maybe.

buttercrumble · 27/02/2014 19:36

Clementine
