Aaron.

muppetthecow · 18/02/2014 13:24

I would say Aaron - mostly because it's the traditional spelling (in UK anyway) and people will automatically spell it that way. It gets really irritating to have to keep correcting people...

florascotia · 18/02/2014 14:43

Aaron if the name from the Bible.

Arran if named after the Scottish island.

Arun if the Hindu name.

ToffeeJungle · 18/02/2014 18:04

Aaron

Only1scoop · 18/02/2014 18:04

Aaron

NadiaWadia · 18/02/2014 18:10

But how are you pronouncing that? Aaron spelt like that is usually said as 'air-on' - do you want that or 'arrun'?

SS3J · 18/02/2014 18:36

I think depends on how you want it pronounced, as Nadia said.

obviouslyneedsupernanny · 18/02/2014 18:52

Aaron. I've never heard it said 'air-on' regardless of spelling.

TamerB · 18/02/2014 18:59

Aaron

NadiaWadia · 18/02/2014 19:25

That's how the normal British pronunciation goes. I went to school with an Aaron 'air-on'. There was even a rhyme about it, using that pronunciation, which I am not going to quote as it is anti-Semitic.

Maybe 'arrun' pronunciation for this spelling is American?

ilovepowerhoop · 18/02/2014 19:28

Aaron - ds has a friend with this spelling and it is sounded as Ah-run

ilovepowerhoop · 18/02/2014 19:39

surely the person naming the child chooses the pronunciation. I have never met an Aaron with pronunciation Air-on despite your link.

Sweetishdelight · 18/02/2014 19:40

Arran if you are scottish

NadiaWadia · 18/02/2014 19:44

Well OP you can see it might cause confusion if you choose 'Aaron' spelling. I think the other spelling goes better with the middle name you have chosen, anyway.

NadiaWadia · 18/02/2014 19:44

unless you did mean 'air=on' of course?

Locketjuice · 18/02/2014 19:45

Aaron

TravellingToad · 18/02/2014 19:46

Aaron

Pronounced Arron

orangestripe · 18/02/2014 19:57

I went to school with an Aaron and it was "air-un". There's also Aaron Neville. So in my world, Aaron = "air-un" and Arran and Arun are "a-run".

grizzabellia · 18/02/2014 20:08

Aaron is most definitely pronounced Air-on (as in aaron copland)

Therefore:
Aaron if you are going to pronounce as above

Arran/ Arun if you are going to pronounce Ah-ron.

SimplySara · 18/02/2014 22:52

I really like the name Aaron and am glad to know that there are different ways of pronouncing it as I've been seriously told off for not pronouncing
it "right".

That being said, the vast differences in pronunciation has put me off it.
