I know an adult Clayton. I always liked the name

Squiffyagain · 10/02/2014 06:46

Er, no.

Norfolknway · 10/02/2014 06:55

I know a grown up Clayton. Had never really thought about his name as unusual. He suited it

PrimalLass · 10/02/2014 08:29

No. I would laugh.

LastOneDancing · 10/02/2014 08:33

I knew a Clayton and a Layton.

Both massive nobheads which has unfortunately skewed my judgement.

FreelanceMama · 10/02/2014 08:36

What do I think? 1st thought Dallas, 2nd thought Sussex windmill. 3rd thought naming boys if really hard - try a book called Bring Back Beatrice for interesting but not odd names.

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 10/02/2014 08:50

I really like it…I do tend to like American sounding names though such as this which I don't feel I can actually use here in the UK and be taken seriously because of the sort of reaction like you are getting on this thread. Sad

FreelanceMama · 10/02/2014 09:00

keepthechange do you have "twins" by any chance?

PestoStormissimos · 10/02/2014 09:00

It's a windmill's name down here!

expatinscotland · 10/02/2014 09:04

I had a boyfriend who went by that, but it was his surname.

FreelanceMama · 10/02/2014 09:05

Doh! It's home alone isn't it? KeepTheChange god knows what I was thinking of!

squoosh · 10/02/2014 11:09

Sounds like an American soap character.

He'd be married to Maddington and be having an affair with Timperley. Possibly plotting to kill his business partner Blake Berenger.

Fetacat · 10/02/2014 11:17

Love it!

Mrsfullhouse · 10/02/2014 11:27

If you have to ask people not to be 'too mean'... then you already know the answer.

Daft name destined for a life of questioning why his mother gave him such a silly name, whilst heading down to the jobcenter.

ems1910 · 10/02/2014 11:30

I know two. One from school who is 33 now and a 3 year old.

I don't think it's as awful as people are saying, not my taste though.

Theonlyoneiknow · 10/02/2014 12:49

I don't know what's wrong with it TBH, I don't understand all the negative comments. It's a perfectly okay name?

squoosh · 10/02/2014 12:51

'Daft name destined for a life of questioning why his mother gave him such a silly name, whilst heading down to the jobcenter.'

I don't think being called Clayton would make a person unemployable!

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 10/02/2014 12:54

I don't like it. But I prefer more traditional names. And yes, it is a village in Bradford, so it would put me off further.

Innogen · 10/02/2014 19:10

I'm thinking of rednecks, but I don't know why.

Was there one on the Simpsons with loads of children?

ThePigOfHappiness · 10/02/2014 19:18

No it's not for me either. It's probably not for you either if you have to ask for people not to be too mean. You can't really ask people that face to face and I suspect people will be.
I know one little boy called clayton. He's about 7.

MerryMarigold · 10/02/2014 19:19

Mills & Boon

Pointeshoes · 10/02/2014 20:11

That's what I said innogen, it's cleatus haha

CormoranStrike · 10/02/2014 21:54

Sorry, don't like it, sunds a bit trailer trash to me.
