Tell me your thoughts! I already have a Henry.

I think that Ada is as bad as Wilf.

Edith & Ivy not so much!

RabbitFromAHat · 08/02/2014 12:00

Really really dislike all those names - Sidney, Stanley and all the rest - but Wilf is absolutely the worst of them all, I'm afraid. Just my opinion, of course. Grin

hoppinghare · 08/02/2014 12:04

I thought this was a thread about MILFs. On that basis I would say don't use it. Too much of a teasing risk.

squoosh · 08/02/2014 12:06

Sorry Ada, not Ava. Well Ada is even worse. I'm just not very fond of names that sound like an Edwardian scullery maid/footman.

BronzeHorseman · 08/02/2014 13:08

Not had time to read the full thread, but depending on the school he will always have his name on the board! WILF - teacher speak for 'What I'm looking for' :)

HopeS01 · 09/02/2014 08:34

I like Wilf, but my only objection is that it's a little bit "on trend" in my area at the moment.
Lots of baby Wilfs and Baby Teddys

badtime · 09/02/2014 23:30

I would lay money that any child called Wilf would spend his teenage years as Wil or Will.

Dovahkiin · 10/02/2014 02:16

Slightly prissy dog name, I'm afraid. A friend has a whippet called Wilf who spend his time smothered in designer scarfs and jackets to keep out the cold, poor dear.

Theonlyoneiknow · 10/02/2014 12:55

Reminds me too much of MILF. Not my cup of tea but it's your DS so call him a name YOU like. My DS has a name greatly disliked on these boards but so what! He's my DS!

tammytoby · 10/02/2014 13:42

"I would lay money that any child called Wilf would spend his teenage years as Wil or Will."

I find that worse than Wilf and too close to Willy!

FredFlintstonesSister · 10/02/2014 13:55

Love, love, love it! But more to the point, if YOU love it use it. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks!

Amrapaali · 10/02/2014 13:58

Agree with Theonlyone. Too much like MILF.

There was a lovely poster here on MN who used to update about her boy, Wilf. When I was a newbie, I nearly went on to her thread and was about to say something racy. Blush

Thank goodness, I realised in time... So, OP, a no vote from me.

dashoflime · 10/02/2014 13:59

yes to Wilf! I know an adult Wilf and he is a lovely man :)

UriGeller · 10/02/2014 13:59

Not a fan of Wilf. But I'm not going to be horrible about it because I had a lovely old Uncle Wilf who was a lot like Badger in Wind in the Willows.

BerryBerryXmas · 10/02/2014 14:51

Sorry I really dislike it. To me it sounds weak, like a wilting wallflower or something. I like Will or William though. I don't like Edith or Ivy either.

Treaclepot · 10/02/2014 14:54

No just no.sorry.

PuppyMonkey · 10/02/2014 14:56

No no and thrice no.

MrsBennetsEldest · 10/02/2014 15:01

Wilf is a lovely name....for a dog. Wink

Hate the old biddy names too....remind me of old aunts with marshmallow cheeks you had to kiss as a child. Eewww

DramaAlpaca · 10/02/2014 15:05

Awful name, but then I think all the recently revived old man/old lady names are awful & went out of fashion for a very good reason.

ScarlettMantleplume · 10/02/2014 15:05

Love it! How about Wilfric instead of Wilfred? Although I bet if you did that he'd end up being either Ricky or Freddy.

MrsBennetsEldest · 10/02/2014 17:01

Wilfric ????

Please don't.

Mckayz · 10/02/2014 17:04

Wilf is lovely.

Madamecastafiore · 10/02/2014 17:22

Excellent name. I know one and he is a little sod but so beautiful you would forgive him anything.

Ham69 · 10/02/2014 19:20

Always loved the name, was on my short list a while back when I had DS, and think it goes brilliantly with Henry.

ladyquinoa · 11/02/2014 21:36

Adore it!!! Sidney is also fab
