Names too similar?!?

I have just one DS but DH and I were discussing what we could/would call a second if we ever get round to it, however the name we agreed on starts with the second half of DS' name so for example if dc1 is called Rachel and dc2 would be called Chelsea. Do you think they're too close?

Nope

No here too.

No, my DC's names do that, but the other halves are different. It's fine.

No, I'm not sure I'd even notice unless it was pointed out to me. I know siblings called Oscar and Scarlett and I didn't notice the similarity until it was pointed out to me!

Hmm I think it depends on the names and any common short forms, we have a Nicholas and I refused to name ds2 Dominic as I don't Dom and obviously the other option is Nic which would be really strange as Ds1 is almost certainly going to go by Nick at some point.

Hmmm, thank you for the responses ladies, DS1 is only four months old so it's all still a bit pie in the sky at the minute Grin
DC1s nickname (if his name was Rachel) is Rach, so my main worry is that when calling them it would sound like I'm saying rachealsea
