Oh, and to the poster who suggested a Flora may not turn out to be a flowery person - I am not in the least bit 'flowery', but I have never felt that I needed to account for this with another name. Why shouldn't a rugby loving girl, as you say, have a flowery name? That is ridiculous, as if all Sarahs should be princesses or all Peters should be outdoorsy types who like rocks.

IHeartKingThistle · 22/01/2014 10:04

Grin at like rocks.

I know two sisters who are Rose and Flora - I think Flora is a lovely name. I also (weirdly) don't think of Flora as a really flowery name. It sounds quite solid compared to Lily or something.

ShoeWhore · 22/01/2014 10:14

Like both names but not together.

My daughter is called Flora. The margarine thing has been mentioned once or twice by people at school but it has never been an issue. If anyone is really stupid enough to think we named her after a brand of marge then I'm really not concerned with their opinion.

Although there are a number of flower names out there I don't think they are as prevalent as suggested above. In her class of 30 there are none.

I do think the Ra Ro sound of Flora Rose isn't ideal. And Rose seems to be the 2nd most popular middle name after Mae/May.

I think that Flora is a fabulous name.

Don't like Rose with it though.

Bonsoir · 22/01/2014 10:58

My DD is Flora Elisabeth Zoë.

Flora is a great name!

I love the name Flora! Gorgeous. But I would chose something a bit longer and more unusual than Rose for a middle name. There was a great thread a few months ago with middle name ideas for flora... Will see if I can find it.

Bowlersarm · 22/01/2014 11:32

Really love Flora.

And Rose is fine.

Rosencrantz · 22/01/2014 14:06

I can't get over the margarine, so I wouldn't use it.

Rachaelandbabysofia · 22/01/2014 15:29

Rose is lovely, not so hot on the Flora - thinking of school, children can be cruel. But if you love it who cares what other people think.

I love poppy rose, just putting it out there.

Bumpiemalumpie · 22/01/2014 15:36

It is a gorgeous combination.

Thank you for everyone taking the time to post their opinions. We just love Flora Rose and should we be blessed with another little girl ( we have a Tilly May) i think we will go with it. Xx

Sounds almost exactly like my real names - but I don't have the F sound at the front. Never had any pronunciation issues :)
