just dreaming here but love the above names for a girl. Far too "out there" for hubs though. Wondering what the above could be nn for? other than Lorraine?? if we can find a nice full length name with Rayney or Rayne as a nn he might be more agreeable!?!

Pronounced "rainy" or "rain" as in the weather???

Fantail · 15/01/2014 20:35

I went to school with a girl called Rainer and my DH's grandfather was Raynor.

MrsRV · 15/01/2014 20:36

rainey as in the weather yes... usually a nickname for Lorraine I believe.

I know a Lorraine (mid 40's) who name changed to Rain. I quite like it, although I am not sure I would ever be bold enough to use it!

sausageandorangepickle · 15/01/2014 21:05

I know a teenager called Raine.

Wasn't Princess Diana's mum called Raine?

Quite like it though

badtime · 15/01/2014 22:43

Raine was Diana's stepmother.

Beamur · 15/01/2014 22:45

I like it.

CatAssTrophy · 15/01/2014 22:49

I prefer it spelled "Raine". But wouldn't it need one of those accent things over the "e" if you wanted it pronounced "Rainy"?

RiaOverTheRainbow · 15/01/2014 22:58

Igraine

RiaOverTheRainbow · 15/01/2014 22:59

Possibly Wren?

Froblawd · 15/01/2014 23:01

I have taught a Rain and Rainy

Astarael · 16/01/2014 08:51

I knew a Rayna at school pronounced r
Rain - er

HRHQueenMe · 16/01/2014 14:07

I have a lovely friend called Rayme, nn Amy.

EirikurNoromaour · 16/01/2014 19:53

Please don't spell any variant Rayney. It's awful. I knew someone called Rainey, I don't know if it was her full name or a NN.

Beamur · 16/01/2014 21:20

Igraine is classy! Merlin?

Pinkbell123 · 16/01/2014 22:28

What about Raina/ Rayna instead? You could have Rain or Rainy as a nn.

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 16/01/2014 22:33

I know a rana pronounced raina
And a rayne. I like it.
Not shorted versions just their names.
Oh I know a morraine too, that's different and could be shortened to rain/

frazzledoldbag · 16/01/2014 22:39

I know a Naraina, which can shorten to Raine?

BetterWithCheese · 16/01/2014 22:45

I have a niece called Raine and her parents do call her Rainey sometimes but never thought how you'd spell that. I thought it was a bit out there when they named her but I think it's lovely now.

BetterWithCheese · 16/01/2014 22:46

I think Rayna or Raina are both really nice as well.
