DP is Indian, I'm British. I already have DD Lily from previous relationship, expecting a baby any minute now, what do you think to Taran or Rohan for a boy?
Already have a girls name.

Rohan probably.

maishoffwcingras · 09/01/2014 19:48

In welsh taran means thunder so for that reason I prefer rohan Smile

UriGeller · 09/01/2014 19:55

Ooh, Taran means Thunder in welsh? I was going to say Rohan but I prefer Taran now

Bowlersarm · 09/01/2014 20:04

I like the look of Taran. How is it pronounced?

Alisvolatpropiis · 09/01/2014 20:48

Taran

Selks · 09/01/2014 21:16

Rohan

beatricequimby · 09/01/2014 21:31

Both really good choices. People may pronounce Rohan in different ways, I don't necessarily think that matters but it may bother you.. Probably comes down to which goes better with your surname.

I would say Rohan because Taran makes me think of the girl's name Taryn (not sure if this is how it is spelt mind you but they sound similar!) But it might just be because I have never met a Taran.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 10/01/2014 15:36

Taran sounds a bit chav to me. I love Rohan though. Surely there's only one way to pronounce it?

Monkeyandanimal · 10/01/2014 15:56

Rohan reminds me 'Lord of the Rings", so no to that! Taran sounds like it is Indian and therefore reflective of your DP's culture, so yes! Also has a nice ring to it.

Spaghettinetti · 10/01/2014 16:48

I'd definitely go for Rohan - it works well as a name in both the UK and India and has a bit more 'star quality'.

ChristineDaae · 10/01/2014 18:21

Iv heard Rohan pronounced 2 ways Row-an and ro-Han.

DoItTooJulia · 10/01/2014 18:22

Is Taran a bit close to Darren? I just wonder if it could be misheard?

GampyWabbit · 11/01/2014 23:01

I have two Indian friends with a son each called Taran and Rohan.

Hmm, if I was to choose I guess I would go for Taran as it is easiest to say, less likely to be mispronounced and sounds good with Lily.
