Just that really. DD2 due in a few weeks and the above names are our shortlist. At the moment I keep rotating as to which is my favourite but thought I'd throw it out there to the mn jury for opinions.

Not interested in other suggestions - it's definitely going to be one of those three!

I'm a bit surprised too, DawnOfTheDee! I wouldn't think enough girls were given the name Sally at any one time to deem it dated, but I know everyone has their own frame of reference. And yes! I've always loved how many great songs feature the name. You could sing Lay Down Sally to her at night. :)

Me too, twighlightsparkle Thanks

squoosh · 07/01/2014 23:28

Or Sally Cinnamon

mrsbug · 07/01/2014 23:35

I know two sallies in their 30's and none in any other age group.

Also know of a cat called sally, their other cat is harry Grin

bassingtonffrench · 08/01/2014 13:04

They are very different to one another!

Sadie for me though

newyearhere · 08/01/2014 13:55

Sadie out of the three.

Lutrine · 09/01/2014 13:43

Sadie is my favourite of the three, closely followed by Sally.I see them both as belonging to really friendly people, probably because I've only met nice people with those names.

googlyeyes · 09/01/2014 13:59

I find all three names very dated, especially Sally. Frumpy (or 'meh') is a good word for it. Associated with my mum's generation (a la Janet/ Susan! Not yet ready for a revival in the same way as the old lady names like Violet, Ruby etc.

If I had a gun to my head I would go for Cindy. Sadie is awful

Francagoestohollywood · 09/01/2014 14:06

I really, really like Sally! Sadie is also nice. Not sure I am ready for Cindy, yet!

whereisshe · 09/01/2014 14:10

I like Sadie. Sally is ok. Cindy is a lapdancer.

googlyeyes · 09/01/2014 14:20

Have heard quite a few strippers/ lap dancers called Sadie in my time!

picnicbasketcase · 09/01/2014 14:24

Sadie - nice
Sally - too 70s
Cindy - too 80s

SS3J · 09/01/2014 17:38

I like Sally the best. Really not keen on the other two. Sadie, I can see the appeal a bit but Cindy I just think is terrible. Makes me think of Cindy dolls, and that's not good!

TheGonnagle · 09/01/2014 17:43

I like Sally best- but one of my best friends is called Sallie so.....
And Sadie is nice too, not Cindy for me.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 09/01/2014 17:45

Sadie is my favourite.

HyvaPaiva · 09/01/2014 17:47

Sadie is lovely.

I really don't like Sally or Cindy, sorry.

Rosieliveson · 09/01/2014 17:55

I like Sadie. I think it means princess but don't quite me Grin

SparklingMuppet · 09/01/2014 18:04

If you put a gun to my head and forced me to choose one, I'd go for Sadie. But only if you forced me. I don't like any of them, at all.

Jojay · 09/01/2014 18:09

I really like Sally.

Sadie comes second

Cindy comes nowhere.

AGoodPirate · 09/01/2014 18:13

I love Sally. The other two I'm not fussed about.

RhondaJean · 09/01/2014 18:15

I love sadie. Love it lots.

Cindy ok, Cindy Crawford?

Sally is my childhood friends middle aged worn out mum surrounded by half a dozen children. She was a nice woman mind you.

YouGrateMyCheese · 09/01/2014 20:14

Sadie and Sally both mean princess, Rosieliveson, since they're both diminutives of Sarah/Sara. (Even though I've read that some people think that a more accurate definition for Sara/h is chieftainess or leader, rather than princess.) Sally actually has two additional meanings: it's another word for the willow tree (from the Middle English saly), and it's related to the Latin verb salire: "to leap." (Hence the phrase, "Sally forth.")

Alisvolatpropiis · 09/01/2014 20:47

Sadie.

Lebkuchenlover · 09/01/2014 22:10

Doesn't Sadie look like Sad-ie? It just makes me think 'sad'Hmm.

Really like Sally though!

sallievp · 09/01/2014 22:16
