Girls names suggestions like Emily/Amelia but not so commonly used?

My friends have a little boy called Isaac and are struggling to decide on a name for his little sister, due this month. So I've told them Mumsnet is really useful for this sort of thing!
They like names like Emily, Amelia etc but would prefer something less popular.
Please help! Many thanks Smile

My DD is Amalia, never met another .

Mrsindecision · 03/01/2014 22:44

I think Juliet is a great option - a classic yet underused name.

I don't know a single Emily or Amelia under the age of 30.

DD (due any day) is probably going to be an Emily Smile

Kokomo5 · 04/01/2014 19:54

I think Ginevra is lovely. I have only met one and she was dazzling, both in personality and beauty.

stinkypants · 04/01/2014 22:36

Have taught lots of Emilys and one amelia. Both lovely. Also like imogen.

BehindLockNumberNine · 04/01/2014 22:53

I have an Emily. She turned 11 last month.
She attends a large 3 form entry primary school, so 90 children per school year. She has NEVER been in her year group with another Emily. (So has always been the only one out of 90). Even now (I work in the junior section of the school) I can count the number of Emilys in years 3 - 6 on the fingers of one hand; out of approx. 180 girls in the entire junior school there are only 2 girls called Emily (one is aged 7 in Year 3 and one is aged 11 in Year 6 and is mine!)

I don't know any little Emilys.

Amalia, Amelie, Aurelia, Ophelia, Emmeline, Saskia, Evangelina, Felicity, Thea, Phoebe, India, Rosie, Aurora, Lydia, Freya, Alexa/Lexie, Evangelina, Darcie, Savannah, Isla, Ottilie, Darcia
I know an Emie (full name not nickname) which I always think suits her well.

I know some of these aren't similar to Emily/Amelia but threw them in anyway just encase!

NorthernLurker · 05/01/2014 00:02

I think Emma is very under-used now.

I agree with posters above - Emma is a classic which is somewhat underused at the moment.
