Third baby due soon. Sisters Abigail and Bethany. Which do you prefer... Arthur or Albert if boy? What if girl? Thanks!

I prefer Arthur for a boy, Albert and Abigail sound a bit too similar, even though they aren't Confused For a girl, Abigail, Bethany and Susannah?

MonkeysTypewriter · 28/12/2013 21:20

you know you need a C

Clara
Clementine

And Arthur, not Albert

arfur · 28/12/2013 21:21

I like Arthur and Albert (could shorten to Bertie?) Abigail, Bethany and Olivia or Amelia Smile

Meglet · 28/12/2013 21:24

Harriet for a girl.

Another vote for Arthur.

Spottybra · 28/12/2013 21:29

Arthur for boy.

Girls names i think sound nice with them are Caitlin, Emily, Ellie, Megan, Amelia. These just top of my head probilly loads of others x

HoneyandRum · 28/12/2013 22:52

The girls names are biblical so I would go for Naomi or Lydia.

Puddles1234 · 28/12/2013 22:56

Albert NN Bertie

For a girl: Harriet, Isabelle, Romilly or Celeste

Thirdtimemum3 · 29/12/2013 11:31

Hmmmm great suggestions everyone thank you. I guess the problem is we call the girls Abi and Betty/Beth so Albert is probably not suitable as Alby and Bertie (my preference) are too similar even when I guess that Beth will be more commonly used in the future when she's older. My family don't seem to think this is a problem but I think maybe it is...

On the girls' front we'd have Harriet as a middle name as it's my sister's name, so I'm pleased that's been suggested. I think it's beautiful. Thanks for all the other suggestions for her first name (if it is a she!), keep them coming!

I just hope Arthur isn't becoming too popular but I guess it's still not a top 10 name for the time being anyway...

I know 3 siblings named Hannah, Bethany and Abigail though if Harriet is the middle name that is not helpful!
Love Harriet by the way.
How about:
Polly Harriet
Lucia Harriet
Clara Harriet
Esther Harriet

soontobeslendergirl · 29/12/2013 16:11

Miriam or Mabel for a girl

I prefer Albert but see the nn issues - but then with Arthur you would have Arty maybe and I don't know if that is any better

What about Edgar? or maybe Halbert, then you could have Hal or Bertie if Bethany becomes more of a Beth?

singaporeswing · 29/12/2013 16:43

Cora for a girl.

ToffeeJungle · 29/12/2013 19:25

First thought was Eleanor.

Not keen on Albert or Arthur but if I had to choose it would be Albert.

Not a big fan of either Albert or Arthur, I think they will date in a way your older girls names won't. I prefer Albert but wonder if it's a bit similar to Abigail?

LondonNinja · 29/12/2013 19:38

Oops, sorry, not keen on either boy names. I know two young ones (one of each) but I'm not convinced.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 29/12/2013 19:39

I would expect a Lauren after those two names. For no very good reason.

Thirdtimemum3 · 29/12/2013 20:43

Hmmmm a third name is so hard! What about Rosie?

OddFrog · 29/12/2013 20:48

Jessica / nn Jess, would fit nicely with your older DDs.

MaeveORave · 29/12/2013 20:51

Jemima
Lydia
Susannah

Ham69 · 29/12/2013 22:10

Yes, I like Rosie. It works very well with the middle name and your DD's names.
