I'm stuck on names for our next child (I'm not pregnant) just planning ahead. As most of the names I suggest my boyfriend don't like or cant say.

I wondered if it was up to you what people would name the sibling of Amy-Louise (No Middle - Named after my great grandmother Amelia). Surname Kitcher (KITCH-HER).

There are only 3 rules:-

NO unisex names
NO Surnames
NO miss spelled names e.g. Caylee - Kayleigh, Hana - Hannah etc. - To me these are miss spelled as they are not in there original form.

Boys & Girls Names Accepted.

Yeah that's what I mean (when there not I say there miss spelled because some look stupid with added letters).

I like all boys except Robert and Peter. - David is gonna be a mn. And oh doesn't like Alexander but he likes Alex. And he doesn't like Sebastian.

I like all girls except Sophie I hate this name for personal reasons.

Sorry, but Hana is not misspelled. This spelling is used in Arabic/Islamic naming and in eastern Europe. There is also an unrelated Japanese name where 'Hana' is the original spelling.

Furthermore, 'Anne' and 'Anna' are also derived from Hannah, and are therefore not in their original form. Do you consider them misspellings?

I realise this is completely unhelpful to you, but I really dislike the loaded language used on these threads, often in conjunction with profoundly flawed arguments.

(And brokenhearted was pointing out 'their' should be used, rather than 'there'.)

AmysMummy14 · 29/12/2013 15:22

Oh wow 1 letter who cares it's easy to understand their and there is confusing anyway.

I don't see Anne or Anna as miss spellings but I do Ann or Ana.

Hana is to me as it is not in it's original form as pp said. - names not as the original form TO ME are miss spelled. - I know some are from other countries but I still class them as miss spelled it's just me.

If you do not have anything to post about what I asked then please don't comment at all. It is not relivant and I don't care to be honest

I think for a girl, a longer name would be best to complement your existing DD's name - not another double-barrelled as that might seem a bit contrived, but perhaps one that is in two definite parts.

Perhaps: Rosemary, Marianne, Georgina, Susannah, Lilian, Mabel, Annabel?

badtime · 29/12/2013 15:39

Ann is actually the traditional English spelling (Anne is French).

I can post if I want, and frankly the fact that you seem to pick at random what you consider to be 'misspellings' means that any request for clarification is relevant.

GoodnessKnows · 29/12/2013 15:41

Katherine Kitcher sounds fab.

GimmeDaBoobehz · 29/12/2013 16:55

That's actually really rude OP, not that my opinion matters or anything.

Jessica
Laura
Rachel
Charlotte
Isabella
Claire
Rebecca

Michael
Harry
Jack
Mark
Michael
Stephen
Thomas

These names seem to fit with your daughters name imo.
You don't have to agree with other posters, but it's not right to tell them not to post either as you don't own MNet.

I hope these names help somewhat.

AmysMummy14 · 29/12/2013 17:01

I do know how to spell Ann and as I said before I know they are tradition names in other countries but i want my child to have a easy name which he or she can spell easily with out having to correct people. What I ment by miss spellings was names like Aliviah/Alivyah - Olivia where people have randomly added extra letters so they look cute. Hannah was the only name I could think of at the time.

Thank you to the people who have answered my question. I wasn't going to use another double barrelled name. I really like Katherine and Annabel. I will see what my boyfriend says about all the others.

All I ment was if you are not going to answer my original question then don't comment because I cba with people nit picking about things I say I'm dislexic which means I spell things differently. all names that have been suggested will be considered.

Annabel was originally a variant of Amabel.

badtime · 29/12/2013 17:49

And I was not criticising your spelling - I was suggesting that you may want to stop saying that perfectly well-spelt names are misspelt, when you actually meant that you prefer certain traditional spellings.

To me traditional spellings and miss spelled names are the same thing. As most misspelt names come from traditional ones that someone wants to make yooneek (unique).

Anyway I like Girls:- Alexandra, Katherine, Imogen, Isabelle/Isabella, Florence.

Names I'm not keen on or cant use:- Helena, Charlotte (2 cousin's called this), Arabella & Aurelia (I love these but my boyfriend can't say them he prefer simple names as he says), Georgina (Too close to a ex girlfriend of my boyfriends name), Amelia (As my daughter is named after a Amelia), Jessica, Rebecca, Rachel, Laura, & Claire (I really like these names but I know too many of each), Sophie (My best friends daughter is called this so I cannot use it).

Names I'd use as a MN:- Elizabeth, Florence, Beatrice.

I like Boys:- Thomas, Harry, Jack (I love it but just makes me think Jack Russell), William, Wilfred (I'm not 100% on this I quite like Alfred though).

Names I'm Not keen on or can't use:- Rupert & Peter (are not my style), Jonathon (I like Jonathan better as it's the original form, I dont want a FN with Jon init though - I quite like Nathan though), Benjamin (I like this we have a couple friends with this name), Mark (I like but I have a uncle called this), Alexander (I love this but he prefers just Alex), Michael (This was a brother of my boyfriends dad but that family is not talked about), Sebastian (My boyfriend doesn't like but I love).

Names I'd use as a MN:- David, Edward, Robert, Stephen (there's like 5 already in the family), James, George.
