Alliteration Names

DH and I both like 2 potential names for DD2:
Anwen
Gwen

Our surname begins with a G, so does this realistically rule out Gwen as an option? No biggie if it does, as we already have another name we love. I am a bit skeptical of the initials G.G. but DH doesn't see the problem.

I don't particularly like alliteration in names, it can sound a bit too much like a 'character' name from a show or a stage name or something. It's just what first comes to mind.

I know you didn't ask for preferences but Anwen is beautiful, a far nicer name than Gwen.

My newborn nephew is a GG Wink.
His name is lovely so if you like Gwen then go for it.

Gigi is a name in itself - so I don't see a problem with that.

Alliterative names really need a good cadence though - how does Gwen flow with your surname?

CarryOnDancing · 19/12/2013 11:14

I think it depends on the names as to how well they flow but I actively like alliterative names myself so I certainly wouldn't write off Gwen because of it.
I do prefer Arwen though, I think that's very lovely.

CarryOnDancing · 19/12/2013 11:14

Sorry, I meant Anwen!

OnABabyDiet · 19/12/2013 19:04

Thanks. Surname is the same name as the chat show host Mr Norton.

Just realised that this thread should be called "alliterative names" it's bugging me now :)

I love alliterative names. Used to have friends with brilliant ones. Then they all went and got married. Grrr. That said, I prefer Anwen to Gwen

My ds is G.G. I wasn't sure at first and it took me a while to get used to it, but I love it now as it belongs to him.

I really like Gwen.

I think Gwen actually sounds great with your surname. Iloved Fergus but it really didn't sound great with our surname F.R.Y.E.R., was gutted. I think Gwen sounds better then Anwen with your surname
