Coralie, Juliet or Iona?

DH says 6 weeks before the due date is 'way too early' to talk about names, so grateful for any views! Like many people, I'd like something a bit unusual but not wacky. Surname is quite boring, two syllables. Thanks.

Iona is great.
Juliet is fine.

Not keen on Coralie.

Juno
Scarlett
India
Flora?

MatildaWhispers · 18/12/2013 22:41

Love Juliet

SatinSandals · 18/12/2013 22:42

Juliet.

DitsyDonkey · 18/12/2013 22:43

Coralie is beautiful!

Beachballfamily · 18/12/2013 22:47

I actually love Juno too, but a good friend has used it so its out. Scarlett and India seem a bit too trendy/of the moment - I worry that they'll date easily. But do keep the suggestions coming.

Juliet is beautiful.

Iona is nice, but doesn't go with all surnames - I know a Mrs Iona Carr.

Coralie is not so nice, for me.

Allalonenow · 18/12/2013 22:52

Juliet is lovely, and would be my first choice, but I'm not so keen on Coralie.

Beachballfamily · 18/12/2013 22:59

Those who don't like Coralie - why not? And Juliet - would it inevitably be shortened to Jules/Jools? I really don't like that..

Coralie is my sister in laws name

She is a lovely, patient woman so I am biased towards it

Juliet would be shortened, Iona is nice but I prefer Coralie out of the choices

Rufustherednosedreindeer · 18/12/2013 23:02

Ooh and when I tell people her name they always comment on how pretty it is

Rufustherednosedreindeer · 18/12/2013 23:04

I know a Thea as well, that's a pretty name (she is 5)

DigOfTheChristmasTreeStump · 18/12/2013 23:05

Coralie sounds like a made upAmerican name to me.

Rufustherednosedreindeer · 18/12/2013 23:10

It means coral, and is french I think

CarryOnDancing · 19/12/2013 09:21

I love Juliet so that would be my first choice. I like Iona and I'm not sure about Coralie as is sounds like it's describing a "corally" sea-but I really like Coral?

HyvaPaiva · 19/12/2013 09:24

Juliet, I don't like.
Iona is a lovely name.
Coralie is really beautiful, my favourite.

DivingBell · 19/12/2013 09:25

Iona would be my first choice, and then Juliet. Not keen on Coralie.

Congratulations Xmas Smile

weebarra · 19/12/2013 09:30

Coralie is my favourite, I also like Juliet and Iona but as mentioned, you do have to be aware of surnames with Iona.

ChasedByBees · 19/12/2013 09:33

I like Coralie, it goes well with a two syllable name too.
Juliet is nice but it will be shortened (speaking from experience)
Iona is good two, but yy to checking your surname is not a noun (Bentley, Bull, Carr as PP said etc would all be terrible)

MrsApplepants · 19/12/2013 09:37

I'm no help, I love all three!

middleclassdystopia · 19/12/2013 16:57

Well i've got a Juliet so i'm biased.

Unusual without being weird. Pretty, everyone comments on what a lovely name.

It may get shortened by her friends when she's older but she'll always be Juliet to her family.

Fletcherl · 19/12/2013 17:02

What about Isla.?

Yama · 19/12/2013 17:03

I love Juliet, it was on our list for ds.

Iona is nice. Not so keen on Coralie. It reminds me of Coraline, which gave dd nightmares. Stupid reason I know.

BrianTheMole · 19/12/2013 17:06

Juliet.

SS3J · 19/12/2013 18:03

My favourites are Juliet followed by Iona. Coralie I think is a lovely name, but only with a French accent! An English accent turns it into 'Corally' which is not as pretty!

Bluestocking · 19/12/2013 18:06

I love Coralie. Juliet is nice too. Really don't like Iona - not sure why!
