We have a Katy, full name Kathryn. She has just recently thought that "Katy" sounds a bit young and prefers Kate. She's 19.

Know a gorgeous Katy Think its better spelt with y at end instead of ie

redcaryellowcar · 10/12/2013 21:35

i like Katy, don't think it needs to be short for anything!

Writerwannabe83 · 10/12/2013 21:41

My friend had a little girl 10 days ago and called her Katie. It is always a name I have liked too Smile

RaRa1988 · 11/12/2013 13:13

It's on my list - but I prefer it spelled 'Katy'

PiggyPlumPie · 11/12/2013 13:16

I have a Katy and love it! Grin

The problem is the many different spelling options and the constant need to spell out...!
Kathryn, Katharine, Katherine, Catherine, Catharine, Cathryn, Cate, Kate, Katie, Katy etc.....

I'd choose a name that had one recognised, obvious spelling personally.

BitOutOfPractice · 11/12/2013 13:37

If I weren't the name I am I would like to be a Katy. I think it's classy, yet has a bit of chutzpah. I love it. I'd go for Catherine / Kathryn though for the actual name

Zamboni · 11/12/2013 13:44

I'm a Katie, not a C/Katherine. I really like my name. Never felt like I was missing out by not having a "full" version of my name. I go by Katie but lots of people call me Kate which I also like.

Lebkuchenlover · 11/12/2013 15:19

Agree about the confusion regarding different spellings of the name - I know a Katie, a Cate, a Katharina and a Kathryn! This 'having to spell it out' would put me off.

Lebkuchenlover · 11/12/2013 15:20

But if I had to choose it, then I'd go for Katharine, nickname Katie.
