Something like Freya but not Freya...

I like the Nordic thing, reasonably short and unfussy. But our surname begins with F so I have some reservations about that... Other criteria: not beginning with a vowel, not beginning with 'S'...

13loki · 13/12/2013 17:55

Tilde or Thilde (I love this one, but as Australian expats couldn't handle waltzing matilda jokes)
No starting with vowel or s? That rules out Saga, Alma,Alva, Ätta, Älfi (pr Elfi), Elin

What about Vilda? Moa, My (pr closer to me than my) Madicken? Tuva?

I wanted it for DD but DH thought it was a bit too out there (we're very traditional namers usually).

It's an Icelandic volcano, if that makes a difference?

How is Signe pronounced?

Seen-ya, Sig-na, or something else?

mathanxiety · 14/12/2013 18:36

Signe pronunciation by Danish speakers on forvo . com

(SEEN-eh)

moas · 14/12/2013 18:38

Helga is my current favourite for Nordic girls names. Sigrid and Ingrid are also nice but obvs don't fit your criteria. Ronja? Mona?

Signe is pronounced Sing-ne/ Sing-nair (silent r)
