Hi all, me again, I thought DH & I had decided on Matilda Florence for our DD2 due in Jan but now he has put his foot down & said he wants Georgina as a middle name, family name on his side which is totally fair as he never makes any demands at all..

I just can't get my head around Matilda Georgina(one syllable surname). I adore Matilda & loved Matilda Florence just not gone on Matilda Georgina, is it acceptable or too much of a mouthful? Georgia would be another option but I just think Matilda Georgia is totally wrong?
Thanks for all the advice already, I've lost track of the ammount of posts I've created due to our indecision!

I don't think either Georgia or Georgina goes.

Can you not have Matilda Florence Georgina One-syllable-Surname? Sounds suitably impressive and not silly to me

ClaraBarton · 26/11/2013 19:37

I prefer it to Florence actually. Far better for her middle name to have meaning than just be pretty.

CarryOnDancing · 26/11/2013 19:47

I think it goes perfectly well and the fact it has family meaning definitely trumps Florence.
The full name will be used so infrequently anyway that I don't think you need an absolutely perfect match.

Matilda Georgina sounds lovely to me. My dd has two three syllable names and I think it works.

nextphase · 26/11/2013 20:05

what about Florence Georgina?

ToffeeJungle · 26/11/2013 20:28

I think Matilda Georgina is fine though like the suggestion of Matilda Florence Georgina.

YummyMummybee · 26/11/2013 20:57

Thanks for the suggestions, dead set on Matilda, just love it!!! Unfortunately DH won't go for 2 middle names so we will just have to go with Matilda Georgina I guess, maybe it's because both names end in a or its the 3 syllables it just sounds wrong to my ears:(

Just googled varients of Georgina there & saw Georgianna which I actually quite like. Does Matilda Georgianna have a better flow to it or is it still a bit of a mouthful?

I would suggest two middle names too - Matilda Florence Georgina sounds fabulous - any chance of convincing your husband to change his mind??

Frikadellen · 26/11/2013 22:00

I think Matilda Georgina goes better than Matilda Florence

YummyMummybee · 27/11/2013 11:09

I think I'm overthinking things, Dh is adamant about not having 3 names so Matilda Georgina it is I guess, not what I wanted but I guess Georgina is a family name so I'll have to compromise....
