That we should change? So hormonal and irrational can't think for myself!

My dd was named a name that no one on the ward had heard of before!

If its a popular name then you will always come across someone with it at school, play groups etc.

If i really liked the name, it would put me off

Whats the name?

And congratulations!

Lancelottie · 25/11/2013 10:49

Our nursery had three Maisies in one year. I've never come across another before or since. Nah, you'll be fine with Nell.

hattyyellow · 25/11/2013 10:50

No, stick to your name. It's a minefield, one of our DC has a very unusual name and to my amazement she is one of three with the same name at school! You could change it and find your DC was still randomly one of 3 with that name. If you like it stick to it, it's not as if the other person in the ward is someone you will see again/often I presume?

JemR234 · 25/11/2013 10:50

I don't know any babies called Nell/Helena, and it's lovely. Congratulations.

NoAddedSuga · 25/11/2013 10:50

That should say it wouldnt put me off

sandfrog · 25/11/2013 11:00

It's just a coincidence, it doesn't mean that one out of two babies are called Nell. I only know of one Nell.

thepobblewhohasnotoes · 25/11/2013 11:01

I don't know any Nells. Go for it, lovely name!

Bowlersarm · 25/11/2013 11:02

Stick to your name. Just reaffirms other people love it too.

RevengeWiggle · 25/11/2013 11:04

They're not the same name. DD was one of three with her name on the ward, strange because I hadn't realised it was a popular name but it didn't put me off.

nobutreally · 25/11/2013 11:06

No, defn stick with it - there will always be another child with the same name as yours - as long as you love it, that's what matters. Plus your dcs actually have different names, don;t they - just the same abbreviation. And it's a lovely one!

Fwiw, I know LOTS of children, and only one Nell (& we are in a reasonably early adopter name area - ie names are often common round here a bit in advance of mn getting sick of them!)

Oh, and congratulations!!!

PatriciaHolm · 25/11/2013 11:08

Er, that's two different names, just same nick name - which may well not be the nickname she ends up with! Congratulations on your baby, give her another cuddle and forget all about the other people who you will never see again ;-)

coffeeinbed · 25/11/2013 11:08

Just the one?
Now if there five little Nells, then maybe I would have been a bit Hmm
but one?
No.
Congrats of your little baby!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 25/11/2013 11:17

Helena and Nell are lovely names.
And congrats on your new baby Thanks
Other baby on ward is Penelope, who knows whether she'll even be a Nell too ?
Def don't worry about it, it's just your hormones and the small world of the post-natal ward

CordeliaRose · 25/11/2013 12:02

Congratulations on your baby girl, OP Thanks

Helena nn Nell is lovely - I agree that you should keep it for your daughter.

Helena nn Nell is gorgeous! I've never met one either. Me and my sister named our youngest sister at the hospital when we met her for the first time. We chose Kate, at which my mum shushed us, saying " now ssh, that lady there has called her baby Kate too, she'll think I'm copying!"

GreenShadowInTheLibrary · 25/11/2013 15:28

A sign??? Sorry, no.

It'll happen, time and time again.

Just shows great minds think alike.

Lutrine · 25/11/2013 15:28

Sorry, where's manners?! I forgot to add congratulations!!! Thanks

HenriettaMaria · 25/11/2013 15:33

Congratulations Thanks. Helena is a lovely name. I have a Nell (short for Eleanor in our case).

Ignore the hormones as far as you can Smile and stick with your chosen name - it's lovely.

VirtuallyReal · 25/11/2013 15:35

I'd like to know more about "early adopter name areas" Confused What does that mean?

SS3J · 25/11/2013 17:02

congratulations! No, don't change, they are different names and Helena is much nicer than Penelope :-)

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 25/11/2013 17:08

Love Nell. Love it. Don't change it.

Ham69 · 25/11/2013 17:13

Congratulations and beautiful name choice. Love Nell and much prefer Helena to Penelope.
