Honesty please

So pleased so many of you like it

I am aware some people will say it wrong but then my dd has three letters in her name and people still manage to pronounce it wrong

It's nice, I would always say ni-oh-me (as in Campbell) but know a nay-oh-me they say it like nay-me which annoys me

I like Naomi - classic, feminine and not overused!

I love it but it is our DD's name.

We have never had anyone mispronounce it. Not sure I would mind if they did though. They would soon figure out the right way in any event.

What is the right way?

Sorry, I should have been clearer. By "right way" I meant the way we pronounce it which is Nay-oh-me.

But appreciate that some people say "Ni-oh-me". That is fine too but just not our DD's name.

I also like how versatile it is in another languages. When we go to France or Spain she is called Noemi by the locals. I love that too.

We would pronouce the same as you mrsgrumpy. Do you get a good reaction to it?

Yes. Biased. Lovely name and not v common - and it sounds good AND looks pretty on the page, imvho. :) Mine is Nay-oh-me.

Although...............

I know a Naomi and for pretty much all of her teenage years all the lads called her I-moan and made moany sex noises every time she walked in to the room. Not a good nickname to have, the poor thing, it followed her around for years and it had no basis. She was a very good girl ;)
