Theodora or Theadora?

Please help settle a debate here. Which is the "correct" version of this name?

Is it Theadora or Theodora?

I love the NNs Teddy Thea and Dora. Not crazy about either in full but DP and I are really struggling to find a compromise name.

I think Theadora, it sounds a little more masculine when it's spelt Theo.

Beachballfamily · 04/11/2013 14:13

Theodora, isn't it? Never heard of the other one.

Theadora looks like a spelling mistake IMO. Go for Theodora. The nicknames are all lovely.

GreatJoanUmber · 04/11/2013 14:22

Theadora IS a spelling mistake. The name is Theodora, which is the female version of Theodore.

bundaberg · 04/11/2013 14:23

Theodora

BettyBi0 · 04/11/2013 15:44

Ok so it looks like Theodora is the winner.
What do you think of the name anyway? I'm worried it is a bit frumpy and meh.

What kind of woman does Theodora suggest to you?

If you like Thea, Betty why not go with that? It's really pretty. According to my Oxford names book it's a pet form of Dorothea but is used as a name in its own right.

Theodora

I love it, especially Thea. I don't find it frumpy, it is pretty and strong.

Astarael · 04/11/2013 16:39

I had a friend who was a Theodora. She was known as Teddy which I think is cute. Love Thea though and I would give it as a whole name (but prob won't use it as I think hypothetical future ds will be a Theo).

elcranko · 04/11/2013 16:45

Theodora.

You could still use Thea as a nn even when the full version is spelt this way IMO.

Beckett3 · 04/11/2013 16:52

I have a 3 month old Theodora, she's known as Teddy but will be perfectly happy if she chooses to be Thea or Dora when she's older.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 04/11/2013 17:23

Dorothea is nice which might fit both too

mewmeow · 04/11/2013 18:29

Thea is a nice name, and a name that I think can be used in its own right.

TheNunsOfGavarone · 04/11/2013 20:04

Theodora isn't frumpy, it's elegant!

DalmationDots · 04/11/2013 21:33

There is also Isadora, I've heard a few babies called that. Not sure I like it, feels a bit made up to me! But may be to your taste.
