Rosie/ Rose? Other?

Me and my partner love the name Rosie. But to me I don't know if it seems likes a name for a young person, would it suit someone in their 50s do you think?

Therefore I thought naming her Rose but calling her Rosie could be more appropriate?

Are there any other names we could shorten to Rosie? Eg. Rosemary

Thanks!! Smile

Rosalind, Rosamund, Rosa

My 5yo niece is Rose-Marie, shortened to Rosie. It suits her to a tee Grin

Beautiful name.

AndWhenYouGetThere · 31/10/2013 09:11

I'd go for Rosemary, Rosa or Rosanna. This way you get Rosie thrown in.

elcranko · 31/10/2013 09:16

I would just go with Rose. Beautiful name.

I love Rosalind or Rosaline - classics with a cute shortening. Also, can be less tricky if she ever wants to change her name to her partner's noun-type surname (eg Rose Wood etc) - sounds silly but it was an issue for me!

I know a Rosalie who gets called Rosie at the moment (aged 1) though her parents have suggested they'll call her Rosa when she is older.

Rosina

I have a gorgeous Rosanna, we use Rosie as a nickname a lot but also use her full name too.

fieldfare · 31/10/2013 12:33

My dd is Rosina, shortened to Rosie and Rose. :)

thegreylady · 31/10/2013 21:31

My dgd is Rosie, I think its a lovely name. They thought of Rosamund and Rosalind and Roisin but knew she would be called Rosie so went with that.

ChrisTheSheep · 31/10/2013 22:28

I agree with the suggestions to go with a "full" name and then shorten it to Rosie (it gives more possibilities later on!): I do like Rosamund and Rosalind.

Rosencrantz · 31/10/2013 23:03

Rosalind! Roz is such a cool nickname.

fruitpastille · 31/10/2013 23:06

I love Rosa.

BB01 · 01/11/2013 14:19

Our DD is called Rosie. We think it suits any age. Although it is perhaps on the 'cutesy' side, I just can't picture a grumpy old lady being called Rosie. All the Rosie's I've met seem to be those eternally happy sorts so hoping DD follows in their footsteps!

BB01 · 01/11/2013 14:19

Sorry, 'Rosies I've met'

halfwildlingwoman · 01/11/2013 15:33

All the variations are lovely. Maybe see what she's like. My DD's second name is Rose. Rosa is lovely, but apparently there are quite a few now. Rosalind I love because she's my favourite Shakespearean heroine. (Except Beatrice, but Fergie has ruined that name for me.)
