I don't have long at all now until my daughter is born and have narrowed it down to these 2 names. Please could you let me know which you prefer, thank you Smile

Daisy.

I know it's nothing at all to do with me, but I can't bear Matilda. And having it shortened to Tilly - eurgh! Tilly, Milly, Molly....all names ending in -lly really.

DP has now thrown Rosie into the mix, hadn't considered it before but I do like it. What do you think?

We are thinking Rosie Florence, Daisy Florence or Matilda Daisy.

Daisy

Matilda.

I know a teenage Daisy, the name suited her as a child but it hasn't grown with her.

Herisson · 29/10/2013 13:29

Matilda or Rose. Not Rosie. Matilda Rose is lovely, actually.

katelo10 · 29/10/2013 13:31

I have a Matilda... So go for daisy! X

PumpkinIsles · 29/10/2013 18:11

I have a Matilda Rose. All of your names were on our short list, including florence!

Summergarden · 29/10/2013 18:25

Go for Rosie! My little one has Rose as a middle name but call her Bella Rosie a lot of the time, wish I'd chosen that instead. I've only taught 1 Rosie and she was a delight.

I've come across quite a few Daisies at toddler groups in this area.

Rtfairy · 29/10/2013 21:01

For those who have a Matilda, does her name get shortened? Not really too keen on Tilly as a nn but think she would get called this anyway..

Yes, to Tilda. Toddlers say Tilda before they say Matilda so it became our DDs nn. Never Tilly.

DSJamesHathaway · 29/10/2013 21:11

Daisy

jemimastar · 30/10/2013 12:34

Daisy. When a guy I work with referred to his new baby "Matilda this and Matilda that" I couldn't help but think a bit try hard/poncy - fine if you are very quirky/creative/bohemian but for average middle class city dweller type it sounds a bit poncy and wannabe boho.

Daisy- have always adored.

allbottledup · 30/10/2013 13:33

Matilda or Rose, nn Rosie. Daisy lovely for a child, not so much for an adult except as a nn.

MatildaMai · 30/10/2013 13:38

My name is Matilda, so yes yes - Matilda!

PinkParsnips · 30/10/2013 14:00

I think Matilda or Rosie (she can choose nn Rose when she's a bit older maybe?) are lovely.

I do like Daisy but agree its one of those names that maybe doesn't suit she grows up?

eatyourveg · 30/10/2013 14:16

Matilda Rose

Rtfairy · 30/10/2013 15:30

Thanks for the suggestions, Matilda Rose is nice but not a combination on our list. If we choose Matilda she will be Matilda Daisy x

soontobemumofthree · 30/10/2013 15:37

Rosie or Daisy. I like Rosie the best.
I like the name Matilda but would have some nn concerns.

frannysfeet · 30/10/2013 17:30

I have a Daisy, and a niece called Florence!

I have however, also met a Daisy in her 60s who absolutely hated her name - just felt it wasn't "grown-up" enough.

katelo10 · 30/10/2013 21:11

My DD is Matilda Rose and we call her Tilda, Tils or Tilly but that's just because her big sister does. To us she is just Matilda :-) it is getting more popular now though x

Rtfairy · 31/10/2013 17:19

I think we are going to go with Daisy Florence. I love Matilda too but will save it for a possible dd2. Just need the little one to arrive now :-)

spudmasher · 31/10/2013 17:34

Good choice. Matilda's everywhere at the moment.

HumOlive · 31/10/2013 17:58

Matilda. Tilly is nice too. Daisy is a bit wet and soppy IMO.

Spaghettinetti · 02/11/2013 17:06

Daisy is lovely!
