I really like this name.

Is the UK pronounciation acceptable though?

I can't see me getting away with insisting it must be said zahn-vee-ev given I am not French and do not live in France. Would people look at me like Hmm and carry on using the Angliscised way?

My friend at work has a Genevieve. They pronounce it Je-ne-vee-ev.

They use Evie as a short form which is nice.

I know an English Jean-vee-ev in London and always thought it was a bit odd/pretentious as she didn't have any French family connection. The anglicised pronunciation is lovely anyway IMO

I love it as Jen-av-eve.

It's been vetoed here, but I really love it.

Anything

I am inclined to say much like your way.

But - is it a recognised variation or is it just wrong? In the way Dillun for Dylan is wrong (but sounds nicer)

The UK version (Jen-a-veev) is the established way of pronouncing it here - it's perfectly correct, just like it's correct to say Soh-fee rather than Soff-ee, even though Sophie's also a French name originally.

I think insisting on pronouncing it the French way in the UK, would be very odd; not least because it's impossible to do without putting on a French accent!

Lovely name, with nice options of Jenny or Evie as nn.
