Ida?
Ida Winnie Honeysuckle?
I know it's a bit 'out there' but our other two girls have similarly 'out there' second middle names, I figure they can easily drop them if they want.
What do you think of Ida though? I loved it but now I'm having last minute doubts.

No.

It's not the Winnie bit particulary, it's also the Ida and the Honeysuckle.

sillyoldfool · 08/10/2013 11:05

What do you think of M@rtha R0se Lull@by or Gret@ Is0bel Sn0wdr0p?

PinkGlove · 08/10/2013 11:37

Love Martha, quite like Greta too.

Not sure on Ida, prefer Ada?

DitsyDonkey · 08/10/2013 11:52

Absolutely gorgeous!

squoosh · 08/10/2013 12:19

To me middle names are a bit of an irrelevance so I say go as wild as you like.

Martha and Greta are both far nicer than Ida. Ida is not a pretty name.

Coupon · 08/10/2013 12:56

I like it. Ava, Isla, Edith and Ivy are fashionable these days so why not Ida?

I don't like Martha (frumpy) or Greta (harsh).

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/10/2013 13:03

I love all of them!

thegreylady · 08/10/2013 13:21

Martha Rose Lullaby is oustanding and a beautiful name.
I don't like Ida or Greta at all.

sillyoldfool · 08/10/2013 13:22

Martha and Greta are DD1&2, thought I'd see if you just didn't like Ida or you have totally different taste to me!
I think my reservations about Ida Are that it can't be shortened or played around with really, the other two are marthie, matty, moo, gretti, Betty, gretsi..... I like to play with their names.

Oh, sorry! If someone says they've already used a name I would never comment negatively. Just different tastes as you say.

sillyoldfool · 08/10/2013 13:45

I don't mind!

I love all those names, I have a friend with a DD called Winnie lavender belle Grin she's soooo cute

Teds77 · 08/10/2013 14:08

My Ida is Ides, Hidi Ides, Ida Spider and Ida Mary Moo in equal measures and she couldn't have a more perfect name than Ida. Go for it Grin !

Teds77 · 08/10/2013 14:14

Just to add that your other daughters have one conventional middle name - Rose and Isobel. Could you maybe change Winnie if you're nervous about using ida? Though if it's after a family member or it's a name you love I also subscribe to the view that middle names are a chance to do something a bit different or honour family.

sillyoldfool · 08/10/2013 14:41

winnie is a family name, so I didn't really think of it as 'out there' honeysuckle certainly is though!

You've made me love it again with Ida spider :D

Winnie and Honeysuckle are lovely but together the first thing that sprang to my mind was Winnie the Pooh.
I really like Ida, its tapping into the trend for old fashioned names I can also see it really suiting a wee girl.

sillyoldfool · 08/10/2013 15:01

I hadn't thought of the winnie the pooh/honey association!
hmmmm.
That association will always be there with winnie though I think, with or without honey!

OP posts:
MrsWedgeAntilles · 08/10/2013 15:37

I've been having a think about this and do you know what I think? People make names their own and once you've got a lovely wee baby who grows into a cute wee girl and a big teenager it'll be her name and all the association will be about her and not really anything else.
I come from a part of the country side that often sees more alternative people settle among the 'spades a spades' horny handed sons of the soil natives. There has been some real shockers of names (to us yokely folk anyway) in the past but after a bit all the wee people called things like Cosimo, Leaf, Isolde and Penny Bunny Rabbit got all mixed in with the wee people called things like James, Duncan, Anne and Eilidh and it was all about their personalities and talents rather than their names.

sillyoldfool · 08/10/2013 15:48

That's really lovely and very true MrsWedgeAntilles.
Ida Winnie Honeysuckle it is Smile

thegreylady · 08/10/2013 19:35

Oh Sorry I misread your op and didn't realise you'd already used Martha and Greta.Love and Joy to Ida Winnie Honeysuckle-may her life be long and sweet :)

elcranko · 08/10/2013 21:15

Martha Rose Snowdrop would be my favourite combo from your lists.

emmyloo2 · 09/10/2013 08:24

I love Martha and Greta. Both fabulous. Ida is something I considered for my DD but I could only think of Ida Ho, Youda Ho....something people used to say around here.

I think it does go with your daughters names and so if you love it, use it. It's much much better than Ava and Evie and the other overused names we see these days...
