Hasn't Fergie (black eyed peas) just called her son this.

I quite like it but it does remind me of guns and roses.

ohcomethefuckon · 05/10/2013 16:08

V cool.

Panzee · 05/10/2013 16:08

Axl would be too GnR. Axel is fine, especially as it's in the family already.

CoolStoryBro · 05/10/2013 16:08

I think it's become a lot more popular since The Middle started. I like it. DH suggested it with DS1. Along with Dolph. Hmm

TheTruffleHunter · 05/10/2013 16:08

I love it and wish I was brave enough to use it!

ModeratelyObvious · 05/10/2013 16:09

CPtart · 05/10/2013 16:17

Part of a car isn't it??

squoosh · 05/10/2013 16:21

I know one. Most people will associate it with G n R though. Think it's Scandinavian.

flaquark · 05/10/2013 16:31

yeah squoosh Scandinavian and German. (my grandfather was Swedish)

thats Axle CPtart

OP posts:
CPtart · 05/10/2013 16:56

Oh yeah!
It's what I thought of though!!

Sleepthief · 05/10/2013 17:16

I like it. I don't think GnR are really part of the zeitgeist anymore, are they? unless you're fast approaching 40 like me

PossessedPollyPumpkin · 05/10/2013 17:18

I love it.

pinkyredrose · 05/10/2013 17:20

I think it's trying too hard. Sorry.

Chacha23 · 05/10/2013 17:38

agreed with Sleepthief, I don't think any of your DS's classmates/friends will really associate his name with GnR, at all. It'll all be prehistoric times for them!

kelda · 05/10/2013 17:40

Axel is a very common name in germanic countries.

I don't associate it at all with Axl Rose.

If I had another boy, he would be called Axel.

TheFallenNinja · 05/10/2013 17:41

Axel got vetoed off my list - damn it.

RandomMess · 05/10/2013 17:42

As kelda said, very common in Germanic countries

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 05/10/2013 17:43

I like it. Makese think of The Middle. He will own clothes right? Not just boxers? :o

lljkk · 05/10/2013 17:56

DC have a 2nd cousin called this (soon to be 6yo).
His mum is a bit of a Biker Chick Lite, so that's what it makes me think of.
Nothing wrong with Biker Chicks.
The Axel we know has the most amazingly gorgeous eyes.

TombOfMummyBeerest · 05/10/2013 18:08

I love it. A personal favourite.

Hi, Ds age 2 is called Axel. I'm swedish and yes it is very common there, top 20. We wanted a common swedish name that sounds nice in English and my dh loves it. Get lots of positive comments, everyone "gets it", no spelling issues usually although he has been called Alex by a doctor once or twice.
