Saw this name on Nameberry under the Girls 'P' section. Is it too ridiculous to use? Quite cute nickname potential!

Too rediculous!

niffernaffer · 01/10/2013 13:59

Astonishing, but I quite like. Never heard it before ANYWHERE

BillyBanter · 01/10/2013 14:00

On active conversations, rather than in baby names, I first read it as

pom line

Is it pronounced pom eh leen?

CityGal29 · 01/10/2013 14:02

No idea! Presume so. Just sounded quite fresh to me.

Beyond awful.

ItsWarmerInTheSouth · 01/10/2013 14:06

Pombear. Wink

CityGal29 · 01/10/2013 14:07

Ha ha thanks for your thoughts. I sometimes wonder where Nameberry source their 'names' from.

Also like Perdita but 'lost' meaning is off-putting.

Sounds like 'Pummeling' !

Inclusionist · 01/10/2013 14:33

I think Paloma could be done!

Choccyhobnob · 01/10/2013 15:24

Like Paloma, but just can't get my head around Pomeline!

HolyMotherOfFuck · 01/10/2013 15:33

Meh, it's a fairly "normal" French name. Princess Caroline of Monaco's daughter has it as one of her names...not sure how well it would fly in the UK though!

squoosh · 01/10/2013 15:36

Pomeline would be the perfect name for an elderly, flatulent shih tzu.

MokuMoku · 01/10/2013 15:37

Sorry but i think it sounds like a breed of dog.

juneau · 01/10/2013 15:37

Sounds like a fizzy apple drink to me.

MirandaGoshawk · 01/10/2013 15:38

Apple drink here too.

elcranko · 01/10/2013 15:55

I don't like it, sorry!

scaevola · 01/10/2013 15:57

It sounds like it's a French brand of dried apple (like mousseline is French Smash).

charleslingus · 01/10/2013 18:27

Yeah, pretty normal to me, but I'm French. Can understand how it may not sound good in English. If you like it another one I would group with it is Apolline (derived from Apollo and tres chic)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/10/2013 18:46

Sounds like a small dog. Hate it, sorry.

LemonLies · 01/10/2013 22:21

I think people would think you made it up, even though you didn't.

LemonLies · 01/10/2013 22:22

Makes me think of a gymnastics pommel horse
