Our girls' names!

Hello! I am just 7+3, so early days and no idea about the sex of the baby yet. However, we've started to think about names because, well, it's fun!! We're pretty set on Frank for a boy. Got a few ideas for girls, would love people's thoughts!

Erin - think this is my favourite
Ramona
Yolanda - this might be a bit too "out there" for us
Emilia - would be constantly confused with "Amelia"?
Alice
Lucy
Rosa
Iris
Martha
Eleanor
Tess - DH not so keen
Rowan

I like Iris and Tess, I don't know of any girls with these names, so not too common, which is nice. I am 6 weeks and also thinking of names already and Tess is one of the ones I like, it's sweet but not too twee, and can be grown up or Tessie for nickname. It's nice! :)

Thanks for your replies. I like Tess from Tess of the D'Urbervilles, DH isn't sure on it though.

I'm curious if Tess is originally a shortening of something else. Does anybody know?

From the list, I think Alice is nice.

What a lovely list! I love Erin, Alice, Iris, Rosa, Martha and Eleanor! The others are OK. I don't dislike any of them!

Tess is also short for Elizabeth or Esther which is far nicer that Theresa. to be honest though I'd use Tess as the full name, it's lovely.

At the other end of the spectrum I also really like Ramona, it's so gutsy and feisty.

Yolanda is terrible and I'd avoid Emilia, but all the others are lovely. Really like Rowan and Alice.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts! Our surname is an O' name, like O'Reilly but not that (although we don't have an immediate Irish connections!) if that makes any difference.

Rowan would be very O-ey, then.

Especially like Martha and Erin.
The only ones I don't really like are Alice, Yolanda and Tess.

I like Lucy, Iris and Ramona best. Not keen on Yolande and Rowan can be confusing as more than one pronunciation. I love the name Ramona, my only qualm about using it is teasing about being a 'Mona'. Although I also think mona is a lovely name.

A name ending in an a (ramona and Martha) sounds odd with an o' surname IMO.

Ramona, Iris or Eleanor. Don't like any of the others.

Erin with an O' name would be nice.

I agree about names ending in an "a" with an O' surname- it forces an arrrr sound, like "MartharO'Neill".
